Four Teens Cited for Stayton High Greenhouse Fire

The fire was started by the boys who were playing with fireworks.

(STAYTON, Ore. ) - Four Stayton teenagers were referred to the Marion County Juvenile Courts in connection to a fire that burned the greenhouse at Stayton High School to the ground last year.

Stayton police spokesman Lt. Rich Sebens says they received a tip on Tuesday about the teens who were bragging about the crime.

The four boys, two 14-year-olds, a 15-year-old, and a 13-year-old, were cited and released to their parents later that day Sebens said.

Couple`s Gladstone Home Searched for Running an Alleged Prostitution Business

Statistically, the City of Gladstone has low arrest numbers for prostitution and related charges.

(GLADSTONE, Ore.) - Today, the Gladstone Police and the Clackamas County Interagency Task Force served a search warrant on 1400 Cornell Avenue in Gladstone. Detectives interviewed 43-year old Christina Lee Smith, and her husband, 24-year old Austin J. Batchelor, regarding their alleged promotion of prostitution business.

This investigation is continuing and will be delivered to the District Attorney's office when completed for consideration of charges. Police initially started this investigation after community members reported what they were seeing at their neighbor's home.

(NORTHEAST OREGON) - A second long distance attempt to elude in eastern Oregon safely ended Thursday morning after Oregon State Police successfully spiked one of the fleeing car's tires. The juvenile driver was operating a stolen Ford Mustang that at one point was going 153 mph as the incident traveled approximately 28 miles in Morrow and Umatilla counties, and involved State, county and local police agencies.

Police say that on Wednesday at approximately 7:30 AM, the 17-year old juvenile male suspect from Star, Idaho, was driving a stolen 2006 Ford Mustang GT when he attempted to use a stolen credit card to purchase gas at an Arlington-area gas station. The suspect left eastbound from the gas station on Interstate 84.

(SALEM, Ore.) - The Oregon Department of Human Service has released the ninth annual report on the Oregon Death with Dignity Act, which collects information on compliance with law and makes this information available to the public each year.

The report released Thursday shows that in 2006, forty-six Oregonians ended their lives under the Death with Dignity Act in 2006, an increase from 38 in 2005.

Oregon’s Death with Dignity Act went into effect in 1997; since then 292 Oregonians have exercised their rights under the terms of the law.

Notorious Willamette Valley Sex Offender Denied Parole

William Henry Dufort was arrested in 1990 after a former resident alleged Dufort abused him 25 years earlier.

(SALEM) - One of the Central Willamette Valley's most notorious sex offenders will remain in prison for at least the next two years.

The state parole board yesterday denied William Henry Duforts first chance at parole saying he remains an extreme danger to the public.

Dufort is the former director of the Children's Farm Home for troubled youth in Corvallis.
