Marion County Announces Flu Clinic

The clinic is funded, in part, by a grant. Because of this, vaccines can be offered at a reduced cost of $15. However, no one will be turned away due to inability to pay.

(SALEM) - The Marion County Health Department and a variety of community partners will be offering a special flu clinic on Thursday, November 2nd, from 9:30 AM to 11:45 AM at the Peoples Church, 4500 Lancaster Dr. NE, Salem, Oregon.

California Pair Convicted of Smuggling Untaxed Tobacco Products Into Oregon

The conviction of Prasad and Singh was secured by the Tobacco Tax Compliance Task Force, a cooperative effort between the Oregon Department of Revenue, the Oregon State Police, and the Oregon Department of Justice.

(SALEM) - Attorney General Hardy Myers announced Friday the conviction of Ashwin Roy Prasad and Kuldeep Singh for crimes related to the cross-border smuggling of untaxed tobacco products through Oregon.

The defendants pled guilty to one felony count each of Transporting Untaxed Tobacco Product without a Permit in Marion County Circuit Court on Wednesday. The defendants were sentenced to pay a fine of $5,250.00 each.

McNary’s Smythe Announces Retirement

(KEIZER) - McNary High School Athletic Director Michael Maghan Friday announced the retirement of Head Football Coach Tom Smythe effective at the conclusion of the 2006 season.

Smythe leaves McNary after 12 seasons; the longest tenure of any previous McNary football head coach.

He led the Celtics to five league championships (96’, 97’, 98’, 02’, and 05’) and two State Championships (1997 & 2001).

Four Firefighters Perish in Southern California Wildfire

(SALEM) - The Portland Taiko Ensemble performs at 7:00 PM Friday, November 3rd in Loucks Auditorium at Salem Public Library, 585 Liberty St. SE.

This is the second show in this year's World of Music at the Library series, sponsored by the Salem Public Library Foundation and the Friends of the Salem Public Library. The series offers seven concerts this year, continuing on the first Friday of each month through April.
