`06 Wine Harvest in Willamette Valley Having a Fantastic Year

Local Winery Eola Hills in Rickreall, just west of Salem, is having a banner year for two kinds of grapes.

(RICKREALL) - The year 2006 will be remembered as an excellent harvest year for certain grapes in the Mid-Willamette Valley according to the experts at the Eola Hills Winery in Rickreall.

Yields are up by almost 50% when it comes to Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir.

Steve Anderson of Eola Hills said that the fruit looks delicious and tastes especially delicious. "We picked a bunch of Pinot Gris for the tasting room. The grapes are sweet and juicy, almost falling off the bunches as we pick."

Clackamas Sheriff`s Deputies Seeking Suspects in Bagby Hot Springs Attack

An unidentified male subject,accompanied by a described pregnant female; robbed, menaced, smashed their automobile windows and physically assaulted a couple -- with a baseball bat, who had been visiting at Bagby Hot Springs.

(OREGON CITY) - Smashed car When Joshua Lange and Julie Ann Degroot of Portland arrived at the Bagby Hot Springs parking lot on Monday, about an hour east of Estacada, they noticed that a car parked at this trailhead had visible signs of a vehicle break-in. This did not deter the couple, who then parked and began the 45-minute hike from the trailhead to the hot springs.

After a brief stay at the hot springs, Lange and Degroot were on the trail returning to the trailhead and heard car alarms activated in the distance in the trailhead parking lot.

(SALEM) - Highway construction On Oregon Highway 22, look for the North Santiam Highway Bridge Replacement Project on North Santiam Highway 22 between mileposts 60 and 76, About 10 miles east of Detroit.

The contractor replaced the existing Whitewater Creek, Marion Creek, Pamelia Creek and North Santiam River bridges and established traffic on these new structures within a 17 mile stretch of Highway 22.

Dignitaries from around the state, including Director of Oregon Housing and Community Services Director Victor Merced and Oregon Food Bank Executive Director Rachel Bristol, attended the opening ceremony.

(SALEM) - Salem Peace Demonstration Anti-War protestors rallied around the world today, and a peaceful demonstration was held in Oregon’s capitol city.

"What we're trying to do really is wake up America to what the Bush administration has been doing during it's entire life in control of the Congress and the Presidency." Sharon Scott was also an active protestor during the Vietnam War.

Salem’s anti-Bush and anti-war protest was totally peaceful, with crowd estimates between 75 and 100.

Sea Creatures Shock Beach Goers in Oregon and Washington

Humpbacks are also known as the "singing whale". During mating season males produce an elaborate song that can last up to 20 minute and changes each year.

(LONG BEACH, Wa.) - Whale and shark A Humpback Whale washed ashore on the Long Beach Peninsula Tuesday afternoon. It certainly is not an everyday occurrence, though plenty of whales have washed onto the shorelines of both Washington and Oregon over the years.

The Humpback isn't the only notable sea creature to become beached this week either, Oregon officials say a live Blue Shark was recovered from a Seaside beach and transported to the Seaside Aquarium today.

Woman Dies From Injuries After Rock Crashes Through Windshield Near Salishan on Highway 101 (UPDATE)

(GLENEDEN BEACH) - Death Investigation Oregon State Police are investigating a bizarre incident on Highway 101 near Salishan on the Oregon coast that claimed the life of a Coeur D Alene, Idaho woman. 75-year old Carol M. Martin died after being struck and injured by a large rock that crashed through the windshield of the pickup she was riding in.

It happened Thursday at approximately 11:40 AM, as a husband and wife were traveling northbound on Highway 101 just south of Lincoln City.

Keizer Fire District Open House Monday

Visitors will be able to see apparatus displays and get valuable fire safety information. In addition visitors can participate in fun activities and enjoy refreshments.

(KEIZER) - Kezer Fire engine The Keizer Fire District will be holding its annual Fire Prevention Week Open House on Monday.

Activities include demonstrations of kitchen fire safety, the use of fire extinguishers, and free blood pressure checks. Children of all ages will be able to use a real fire hose, try their skills at the Junior Firefighter Challenge and practice crawling low under smoke through the home escape maze.

Two Injured in Four Vehicle Crash in Canby

Fog in the area may have played a role in the accident.

(CANBY) - At approximately 7:00 AM, Canby Fire was dispatched to a four car motor vehicle crash.

Initial reports indicated that there were several patients, and at least two unconscious victims.

Because of the morning fog, Life Flight was not available, so the Incident Commander requested an additional ambulance to assist with patient transportation, which in this case came from Oregon City.
