Crash Near McMinnville Injures Two

(McMINNVILLE) - Police are investigating a serious injury crash that happened early Saturday morning on SE Lafayette Highway, about 5 miles south of McMinnville near Walnut Hill Road. Two people were injured. Police say there may have been others, but they were gone from the scene before officers arrived.

Investigators are trying to identify three others who may have been transported from the scene by a second vehicle.

Police say this morning at approximately 5:15 AM, a 1989 Ford Mustang was reportedly northbound in the southbound lane of SE Lafayette Highway near milepost 5.5.

(SALEM) - NORTH SALEM FANS REJOICE!!! The Vikings (3-1 overall, 1-0 CVC) battled, clawed, and won the 53rd annual “Mayor’s Cup” against South Salem 21-18 at Bennett Field Friday night.

The Saxons (1-3 overall, 0-1) lost to the Vikings for the first time since 1989.

The Vikings defense was solid once again, and next week will once against face a tough task at home against West Salem.

16 Year Losing Streak Comes to an End

North Salem Beats South in the annual “Mayors Cup."

(SALEM) - The North Salem Vikings the honrs in the annual showdown between the cross-town rivals.

North Salem's win ended with a score of 21-18.

Service for Oregon Soldier Brad Lindsey Attended by Many

Lindsey died after an attack by Taliban militants Sept. 9th, near the town of Shajoie in Afghanistan's Zabul province, located in the Southeast part of the country.

(TROUTDALE) - A memorial service was held today for Oregon Guardsman, Staff Sgt. Nathaniel Bradley Lindsey, 38, of Troutdale, Oregon, at New Hope Community Church in Clackamas. Lindsey was then given full military honors at Willamette
National Cemetery later that morning.

Oregon's Governor, Theodore R. Kulongoski, and Oregon National Guard Adjutant General, Maj. Gen. Raymond F. Rees were among the many military and civilian mourners who attended the mid-morning ceremony. Those who spoke to the gathered crowd of about 200 people praised Lindsey for his professional demeanor and exemplary soldiering skills.

State Economist Tom Potiowsky Resigns

Dr. Potiowsky will return to Portland State University.

(SALEM) - Dr. Tom Potiowsky has chosen to resign as State Economist, effective September 25th, to resume his career at Portland State University. Prior to becoming the State Economist in 1999, Potiowsky was Professor and Chair of the Economics Department.

Part of his work with the University will be to develop a
plan to open a Business and Economic Research Center. Dr. Potiowsky will also partner with the economic consulting firm, ECONorthwest.

Three Arrested in Keizer Assault

(SALEM) - Police have made three arrests in a recent assault that involved the alleged beating and robbery of a lone woman walking on Chemawa Road. Armanda Cabigas reported that on Wednesday night, she was robbed of her purse and coat by at least three males who were in a white vehicle.

Cabigas said she was struck in the face and knocked to the ground. She said that she was then kicked when she was down on the ground, while the suspects took off her coat and stole her purse. Police in Keizer say the assault was unprovoked, and left Armanda Cabigas with significant bruising and a fractured nose.

Suspect in Salem Homicide Arrested

Thomas Cleveland is charged with Murder, and possession of Heroin and Crystal Methamphetamine.

(SALEM) - Salem Police Detectives made an arrest in a recent murder case, taking a 55-year old Salem man into custody for the killing of a Portland man named James Spaise.

Charges against Thomas Carl Cleveland stem from Spaise's murder that occurred on Wednesday Sept. 6th, in a church parking lot at 570 Madison St NE in Salem.

During the investigation, Detectives say they conducted interviews, canvassed neigborhoods and worked with the Crime Lab in devloping physical evidence.

Dump Truck Slams Minivan and Rolls Over

Nobody was hurt when the boulders came out of the truck.

(SALEM) - A dump truck lost it's load of large rocks in West Salem Friday morning after a rollover accident involving the dump truck and a minivan.

Salem Fire's Bill Holmstrom says the department received a call for a Motor Vehicle Accident at Eola Drive NW and Edgewater Drive NW at 11:09 AM Friday.
