Weapons Seized During SWAT Raid in Keizer

(KEIZER) - Keizer`s Police SWAT team recovered a number of firearms from a home at 4995 Rickman Road Northeast early Wednesday morning just before 5:30 AM.

John Troncoso with Keizer Police says detectives served two search warrants in connection with a criminal investigation into firearms crimes. One search warrant was served at Larry Dean Hutchinson`s property on Rickman Road NE. The other was for the property where Hutchinson resided.

Members of the Patrol and Community Response Units also assisted officers who say four firearms were recovered from the residence, including two handguns and two long guns.

Investigators say ammunition and other firearm paraphernalia were also recovered in the search.

Services to be Held For Detective Randy Nunnenkamp June 13th

Detective Randy Nunnenkamp died Tuesday outside of Newberg when a car crossed the center line and struck his motorcycle.

(HILLSBORO) - Services for Detective Randy Nunnenkamp will be held on June 13th, 2006 at the Sunset Presbyterian Church located at 14986 NW Cornell Road in Unincorporated Washington County.

Salem Police Arrest Two in Identity Theft Ring

(SALEM) - Salem Police detectives arrested 27-year old Michael Joshua Ruiz of Keizer and 39-year old Beth Louise Nicolet of Salem, as a result of an investigation into an Identity Theft ring.

Ruiz and Nicolet were located at the Super 8 Motel in Woodburn and a search warrant was served on that room, in which laptop computers, counterfeit checks, stolen checks, drugs and a loaded handgun were found.

Ruiz was arrested for Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Forgery 1, Criminal Possession of a Forgery Device and 13 counts of Identity Theft.

Oregon State Police are investigating Friday morning's injury traffic crash on Interstate 5 northbound on Boone Bridge south of Wilsonville. Police need your help finding one of the drivers.

A Woodburn tanning salon owner is accused of taking photographs of his clients on his cell phone while they tanned. Police are seeking more possible victims.

A portion of Center Street NE will be closed to through traffic between 17th Street NE and 14th Street NE from June 13th, 2006, until early October 2006, to allow for replacement of the bridge crossing Mill Creek.

State Police Seek Information Related to Hit and Run Crash on I-5

(WILSONVILLE) - Oregon State Police are investigating Friday morning's injury traffic crash on Interstate 5 northbound on Boone Bridge south of Wilsonville. One person received non-life threatening injuries. OSP troopers are seeking information regarding a vehicle that caused the crash and failed to remain at the scene.

On June 9th at approximately 5:55 AM, an unknown red mid-90's Ford Mustang was merging northbound onto Interstate 5 from the Canby/Hubbard Highway, also commonly referred to as Highway 551.

The red Ford Mustang reportedly merged onto Interstate 5 by crossing all lanes towards the left northbound lane where it sideswiped a white Ford Focus driven by 24-year old Patricia Estrab of from Salem. The impact caused Estrab to lose control of her car, strike the center cement barrier and then crash into the side of a box truck.

Witnesses reported the red Ford Mustang pulled onto the shoulder and remained for a couple minutes but the driver did not get out to contact anyone. The unknown driver then drove away northbound.

Estrab was transported to Oregon Health Sciences University for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The truck's driver was not injured.

Al-Zarqawi Said to Survive Airstrike

(WASHINGTON D.C.) - A mortally wounded Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, still alive after a U.S. airstrike on his hideout, mumbled briefly and attempted to "turn away off the stretcher" he had been placed on by Iraqi police, the U.S. military said Friday.

U.S. officials had said Thursday in announcing the attack that Zarqawi was dead when U.S. troops arrived on the scene.

Maj. Gen. Bill Caldwell, briefing military reporters at the Pentagon from his post in Baghdad, said he learned after getting briefings Friday that Zarqawi was alive when Iraqi police first arrived on the scene, but he died a short time later.

`Help is Here Express` Prescription Bus Tour Comes to Salem June 13th

`Help is Here Express` in Oregon to Help Educate People about Patient Assistance Programs; More than 2.3 Million Nationally Already Benefiting From Program.

(SALEM) - Needy Oregonians who have limited access to prescription medications are invited next week to jump on board the `Help is Here Express,` a traveling education center making its way across the country to raise awareness and educate the public about patient assistance programs.

The bus is a part of the Partnership for Prescription Assistance (PPA), a growing national program to help patients access prescription medicines. The `Help is Here Express` will make stops in Portland, Salem, Eugene and Medford from June 12 to June 15th.

Detective Dies in Multi-Vehicle Crash

(NEWBERG) - A 17-year veteran Detective with the Washington County Sheriff`s Office died Tuesday afternoon in a 3 vehicle crash northwest of Newberg. 48-year old Randall L. Nunnenkamp of Hillsboro died at the scene of the 4:18 PM crash in the 14500 block of North Valley Road.

Investigators say a northbound vehicle crossed the centerline, striking Nunnenkamp on his 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle that was southbound. The vehicle then struck another vehicle head on, according to Yamhill County Sheriff Jack Crabtree, `This portion of North Valley Road is particularly dangerous due to its winding, narrow condition...

State Superintendent Susan Castillo will select the next Oregon Teacher of the Year.

(SALEM) - The Oregon Department of Education is accepting nominations from across the state for the 2006-07 Oregon Teacher of the Year.

`The Oregon Teacher of the Year award honors a representative of all the great teachers in Oregon,` said State Schools Superintendent Susan Castillo. `Candidates for Oregon Teacher of the Year should be exceptionally dedicated, knowledgeable, and skilled. They should inspire students of all backgrounds and abilities to learn. They should have the respect and admiration of students, parents, and colleagues.

Candidates should play an active role in the community as well as in school, and they should be poised and articulate representatives of all Oregon classroom teachers` Castillo said.
