Chemawa Road West of I-5 to Close for 56 Hours May 12th-15th for Railroad Work

(KEIZER) - Chemawa Road west of I-5 will be closed for 56 hours May 12th-15th to allow for alterations to the railroad-highway grade crossing at Chemawa Road and Stadium Drive in Keizer.

The work is part of overall transportation infrastructure changes to accommodate the Keizer Station development. Portland and Western Railroad, Inc. will be doing the work.

Letter Carriers to Collect Food, Stamp Out Hunger

(PORTLAND AP) - People from Oregon and Washington can help the National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp out Hunger by placing food donations by their mailbox next Saturday, May 13th.

Close to three-thousand letter carriers throughout Oregon and Clark County, Washington, will join with letter carriers across America. They will collect donations of nonperishable food from their postal customers during the annual National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive.

It will begin Sunday and go through Saturday.

The Oregon Farm Direct Nutrition Program, formerly known as the Farmers Market Nutrition Program, is a state-administered federal nutrition program that will bring more than a million dollars into the hands of Oregon farmers in 2006.

New Music Lineup at State Fair Should Draw Big Crowds

Ted Nugent, the Wildman of rock and roll, will open the performances that include other huge names like Raven Symone, Trace Adkins and The Steve Miller Band.

(SALEM) - The Oregon State Fair's music lineup for 2006 should raise a few eyebrows, huge names will visit. The live music events at the Pavilion will kick off with the "Wildman of Rock and Roll," Ted Nugent, who plays August 25th. Cuts like "Cat Scratch Fever" and "Free For All" from Nugent's Double Live Gonzo album from the 1970's shaped a generation.

On August 26th, 94.7 FM presents PetAid 2006, which features the Violent Femmes, Cake and The Decemberists. That show will benefit Dove Lewis, a Portland emergency pet care clinic.

Parking Location Changes, Shuttle Service Added, During Temporary Road Closure at Salem Hospital

(SALEM) - A free shuttle service at Salem Hospital will begin transporting patients and visitors on the hospital campus as parking locations change. A map of the new parking, shuttle and valet locations is available from the Guest Services section of the hospital's Web site at www.salemhospital.org/guestservices.

The shuttle will transport guests between the parking garage, Family Birth Center, Center for Outpatient Medicine and the hospital, weekdays from 6:00 AM to 8:30 PM.

Albany`s Fire Department Dalmatian Retires

(ALBANY) - The Albany Fire Department`s Dalmatian, Ember, is retiring from her school duties after 12 years with the Department.

Ember has been a huge asset to Albany`s education program put on by the Albany Fire Department every year. She has attended over 1,600 classroom presentations and many other special events in the community.

One of Ember`s many talents while at school is the `Stop, Drop, and Roll.`

8,000 Attend Immigration Rally at State Capitol (VIDEO)

The highly publicized pro-immigration rally drew a crowd of several thousand, police say all everyone remained civil and no problems were reported.

(SALEM) - Thousands assembled at the state capitol in Salem today to protest and demonstrate against immigration reform legislation that would make illegal border crossings a felony, and also punish those who hire illegal immigrants.

Immigration activists called for May First to be a day of solidarity. Hundreds of thousands of people turned out at rallies like the one in Salem, in numerous cities around the country...
