Salem Man Kills His Brother After Altercation

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Salem Oregon Stabbing Jon Bush Salem-News.com was the first on the scene and to report that Salem Police were investigating a fatal stabbing in the 4700 block of Niles Ave NE Thursday afternoon.

Salem Police say 58-year old Larry Bush of Salem was stabbed by his brother, 50-year-old Jon Bush after an altercation just before 4:00 p.m.

Salem Man Remains in Critical Condition Following Motorcycle Crash

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Salem Motorcycle Chase A motorcyclists is in critical condition after riding recklessly and crashing near the intersection of 45th and Market Street in Salem.

Marion County Sheriff's Deputies attempted to stop the motorcycle, driven by 45-year-old, William Liebertz IV of Salem, after it passed them at high speeds on Lancaster near Center Street.

North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory said emergency preparation efforts had been made more complicated by the arrival of thousands of tourists.

(WILMINGTON, N.C.) - Hurricane Arthur Hurricane Arthur strengthened into a potentially destructive category-two storm as it closed in on the U.S. East Coast, with millions of people braced for its impact on the eve of the Independence Day holiday.

The first storm of the Atlantic hurricane season was packing maximum winds of 100 miles per hour, forecasters said, warning North Carolina -- home to many popular holiday destinations -- would bear the brunt of Arthur's fury.

Man Killed in Northeast Salem Stabbing

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Salem Oregon Stabbing Salem-News.com was the first on the scene and to report that Salem Police were investigating a fatal stabbing in the 4700 block of Niles Ave NE Thursday afternoon.

One witness tells Salem-News.com that Salem police officers and Salem firefighters tried valiantly to safe the victim by performing CPR and rendering other medical aid, but they were not successful.

One Person Dead After Stabbing in NE Salem

UPDATE: One adult male was killed, and another adult male is being detained by police during the investigation.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Salem Police Investigation Salem-News.com is on scene of a fatal stabbing in the 4700 block of Niles Ave NE.

Salem Police say one person has been detained in the incident, and there are no other suspects currently being searched for. Salem Police have closed off the area, and residents are leaving their homes and nobody is being allowed into the area, until police have concluded their investigation.

High Speed Chase on I-84 Ends With Two Felons in Custody

Despite the right front tire being deflated, the vehicle continued eastbound at speeds near 100 mph.

(HOOD RIVER, Ore. ) - Oregon State Police High Speed Chase Oregon State Police, with the assistance of several law enforcement partners in Hood River and Wasco counties, arrested two wanted persons following Thursday morning's high speed attempt to elude along Interstate 84.

The two occupants were identified as driver 30-year-old Patricia Marie Motley, from Gresham, and passenger 28-year-old Aaron Joseph Smith, from Rosamond, California.

Oregon State Penitentiary on Lockdown After Large Fight

Visiting is canceled until further notice.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Oregon State Penitentiary in Salem The Oregon State Penitentiary in Salem has been placed on lockdown Thursday following a large fight between inmates.

OSP officials say at 12:20 p.m., approximately 30 inmates were involved in an altercation in the dining room, prompting OSP guards to place the institution on lockdown.

Police Identify Victim in Ore. Highway 38 Crash into Umpqua River

Last year in Oregon, four people died in 4 separate traffic crashes during the 102-hour Fourth of July holiday period.

(REEDSPORT, Ore. ) - Oregon State Police Oregon State Police is continuing the investigation into the cause of Wednesday afternoon's fatal crash after a sport utility vehicle went into the Umpqua River as it traveled along Highway 38 about six miles east of Reedsport in Douglas County.

According to Lieutenant Steve Mitchell, on July 2 at approximately 3:49 p.m., a 1991 Ford Explorer driven by 54-year-old Kenneth Ray Richards, from Coos Bay, was traveling westbound on Highway 38 near milepost 6. For an unknown reason, it traveled off the highway into the Umpqua River where it became submerged.
