Five Injured in Head-On Crash on Ore. Highway 211

The highway was initially closed but is now open to one lane of travel.

(WOODBURN, Ore. ) - Woodburn Oregon Crash Oregon State Police troopers are still on scene of Thursday evening's two vehicle head-on crash that occurred on Highway 211 about a mile east of Woodburn.

Both vehicles to rest on an embankment along the shoulder and some of the occupants were entrapped. Firefighters from Woodburn Fire District and Molalla Rural Fire Protection District responded to the scene for extrication.

Parts of Oregon Inundated by Western Tent Caterpillars

Western tent caterpillars produce one generation per year.

(SCAPPOOSE, Ore. ) - western tent caterpillars outbreak Oregon State University Extension offices in Columbia County are being inundated with calls by concerned members of the public about localized, often severe, defoliation of hardwoods in the northern portion of the county.

The defoliation has been most noticeable on red alders, cottonwoods, willows and fruit trees; however, other broadleaf trees and shrubs are also being affected. The damage is caused by an outbreak of western tent caterpillars (Malacosoma californicum), a moth native to the Pacific Northwest.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Department of Veterans Affairs On Thursday, the Department of Veterans Affairs announced the second in a series of bi-monthly data updates showing progress on its efforts to accelerate access to quality health care for Veterans who have been waiting for appointments.

Acting Secretary of Veterans Affairs Sloan D. Gibson announced that VA has now contacted approximately 70,000 Veterans across the country to get them off of wait lists and into clinics for medical appointments.

Presbyterian Pastors Can Now Marry Same Sex Couples

The presbyteries have a year to vote on the change, according to Kathy Melvin, a church spokeswoman.

(DETROIT, Mich) - Presbyterian Church Gay Rights The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) voted Thursday to allow pastors to marry same-sex couples in states where it is legal, the church said on its Twitter account.

To become church law, the change would need to be approved by a majority of 172 local presbyteries.
