NBA: Thunder Crush Spurs to Even Series

Oklahoma City had 21 fast break points -- 17 in the first half -- while San Antonio managed none.

(OKLAHOMA CITY) - Russell Westbrook was a one man show Tuesday night, as the Oklahoma City Thunder rolled over the San Antonio Spurs 105-92 to even the Western Conference finals at two games apiece.

Westbrook had 40 points, 10 assists and 5 steals, went 14-14 from the foul line, all in a night where Kevin Durant accepted the NBA’s MVP award.

Obama Ready to Bring U.S. Troops Home from Afghanistan

At the beginning of 2015, and contingent upon the Afghans signing a Bilateral Security Agreement and a status of forces agreement with NATO, 9,800 U.S. service members will remain in different parts of Afghanistan.

(WASHINGTON, D.C. ) - This afternoon, in the White House Rose Garden, President Barack Obama talked briefly about the United States' next steps in Afghanistan, and how he plans to bring America's longest war to a responsible end.

"When I took office, we had nearly 180,000 troops in harm's way," President Obama said. "By the end of this year, we will have less than 10,000."

Oregon Memorial Day DUII Arrests Up; Deaths Down

Citizen driving complaints were directly tied to helping troopers find and arrest 11 DUII drivers.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - OSP Car Preliminary statistics in Oregon for the 2014 Memorial Day holiday weekend period indicates fewer traffic deaths and more DUII arrests by Oregon State Police troopers in comparison to last year’s holiday weekend totals.

According to ODOT’s Fatality Analysis Reporting Systems (FARS), there have been two reported fatalities (both pedestrian-involved) in two separate traffic crashes by Oregon law enforcement agencies.

City of Salem Updates State Street and Court Street NE Slurry Seal Work

There will be several short lane closures that will affect traffic and parking.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - The asphaltic slurry seal scheduled to be completed at selected locations on State Street and Court Street NE has been delayed due to weather concerns. The work has been rescheduled for the week of June 2 through June 6, 2014.

The City of Newport had asked the OSU researchers to look at a variety of species, including flatfish, crustaceans, and mollusks.

(NEWPORT, Ore. ) - Oregon State University scientists have examined a variety of coastal marine species near Newport, for concentrations of heavy metals and organic pollutants and found only trace amounts with no bioaccumulation of significant concern.

After 4 Years in Coma Mavi Marmara Victim Passes Away

The death toll has now reached 10. Ten humanitarians killed in international waters.

(ISTANBUL, Turkey) - Salem-News.com Mavi Marmara activist Uğur Süleyman Söylemez, who was heavily injured by the Israeli attack on May 31, 2010 and was left in a coma for four years, has passed away today at 51 years of age.

Mavi Marmara was on its way to bringing humanitarian aid to Gaza in May 2010, when Israeli soldiers attacked the ship in international waters leaving 9 dead and 30 wounded. The death toll has now reached 10 after Söylemez died in a hospital where he was receiving treatment.
