(GRESHAM, Ore.) - Oregon Green Free (OGF) hosted their Sixth Annual Oregon CareGrowers Cup in April in Gresham Oregon.

Nearly four hundred patients, care-givers, and growers from around the state of Oregon came together for a banquet and award ceremony.

During the thirty days leading up to "The Cup" sixty patients were assembled to test various strains and hash samples from certified growers in the Oregon Medical Marijuana Program.

Event Judges pay $100.00 to participate, and Judges with the Winners Circle pay $125.00. Of course they have to be legal patients.

All of this information is then put into a Strain-to-Ailment data-base that OGF members can access thereby helping them learn which strains are best suited for their needs.

While the local musicians, Mandolin Madness and The Dirty Syncopators laid some funky soul on the stage before and after over sixty volunteers served a fancy feast to the mass of hungry participants.

Many vendors were there including Great Vape, Advanced Nutrients, Pongo Glass, Smoke Signals, Dank Gear, TGA, NLG and Oregon Organiks, giving away samples and selling their products at great prices to the attendees.

The Coalition for Patients Rights 2010 campaign raised over five hundred dollars for Initiative-28 at this event.

I-28 could create a regulated non-profit dispensary system in Oregon, start a program to help the poorest patients obtain medicine and allow for scientific research.

Oregon Green Free is a federal 501(c)(3) non-profit which was founded in April 2002 by John Young and Karla Godwin.

It was designed to help patients caregivers and growers to become self-sufficient; to create for themselves a higher quality of life through education, use and production of Medicinal Cannabis under the guidelines of the Oregon Medical Marijuana Act.

OGF members host 2 annual Medical Cannabis cultivation contests, "The Cup" as it is referred to in the spring which features more indoor growers and Harvest Fest in fall which features more outdoor growing.

This year the winner of "The Cup" was a grower from the North Coast Chapter of OGF and they took first place with "The White".

The second place was "OG Kush Abusive."
