(CHICAGO) - Cubs manager Lou Piniella was suspended for at least one game, and possibly more for "aggressive and inappropriate actions" in Saturday's game when he allegedly kicked third-base umpire Mark Wegner.
Piniella was at Wrigley Field on Sunday for the Cubs' series finale against the Atlanta Braves, but bench coach Alan Trammell got the nod to manage the team.
The Cubs manager went nose-to-nose with Wegner, kicking dirt on his shoes and booting his own cap twice. Read Full Article

(KANATA, Ont. ) - Stanley Cup Final hockey returned to Canada’s capital for the first time in 80 years Saturday night and it proved to be a night to remember for the Ottawa Senators.
Buoyed by enormous support from the sellout crowd at Scotiabank Place, the Senators cut the Anaheim Ducks’ series lead to 2-1 with an exciting, bizarre and nasty 5-3 victory in Game 3.
The Senators received scoring from throughout their lineup as Chris Neil, Mike Fisher, Alfredsson, Dean McAmmond and Anton Volchenkov scored for Ottawa, which fought back from three one-goal deficits to get what was a virtual “must” win to stay alive in this series.

(STILLWATER, Okla. ) - Former University of Oregon All-American Greg Gibson was formally inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Saturday in Stillwater, Okla., as part of festivities at the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum’s annual Honors Weekend Banquet and Induction Ceremony.
Gibson finished second for the Ducks in the NCAA championships at heavyweight in both 1975 and 1976 before winning a silver medal in the 1984 Olympic Games.
As a post-collegian, Gibson won World medals in all three styles of international wrestling — Greco-Roman, Sombo and freestyle. Read Full Article

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - Oregon State catcher Mitch Canham and outfielder Joey Lakowske were on the first team when the Pac-10 All-Academic Baseball Team was announced last week.
Beaver pitcher Joe Paterson was named to the second team and OSU pitcher Jake McCormick and outfielders Scott Santschi and John Wallace earned honorable mention.

Gibson scored 19 of his career-high 31 points in the fourth quarter as the Cavaliers outscored the Pistons by 15 in the period to reach the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history with a 98-82 Game 6 victory on Saturday night.

(ORLANDO, Fla.) - The Orlando Magic have named Billy Donovan head coach, General Manager Otis Smith announced Thursday.
Donovan spent the last 11 seasons as head coach at the University of Florida, compiling a record of 261-103 (.717).
He guided the Gators to nine straight 20-win seasons.

(MEMPHIS) - Grizzlies majority owner Michael Heisley has named Marc Iavaroni as the team’s new head coach.
Iavaroni joins Memphis for his first head coaching stint after serving the past five seasons as an assistant coach with the Phoenix Suns, including the last three and a half years as the team's lead assistant.
He brings a total of 17-years of professional experience as either a player or coach, including a three-year stint as assistant coach/director of player development with the Miami Heat.

James scored Cleveland's final 25 points, spanning the end of regulation and both overtime periods, to finish with a playoff career-high 48.
The final two came on a game-winning driving layup with 2.2 seconds left in a 109-107 Game 5 victory over the Pistons that gave the Cavaliers a 3-2 lead in the Eastern Conference Finals.
