(EUGENE, Ore. ) - Oregon's Maarty Leunen and Bryce Taylor are two of 30 collegians who have been invited to participate in the July 12-14 USA Basketball Men's Pan American Games Team Trials at Haverford (Pa.) College.
Leunen, a 6-9 forward from Redmond, Ore., averaged 10.8 points per game last season and was the No. 4 rebounder in the Pac-10 at 8.2 points per game.
Taylor, a 6-5 guard from Encino, Calif., scored 14.1 points per game while shooting 51.7 percent from the field. Both will be seniors in 2007-08. Read Full Article

(CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.) - Oregon State scored four runs in the final two innings and the 25th-ranked Beavers beat seventh-ranked Virginia 5-3 Monday evening at the NCAA Charlottesville Regional baseball tournament.
The win by OSU (41-18 overall) forces a single game Tuesday at 9 a.m. PDT to decide which team will advance from the tourney to this coming weekend’s NCAA Super Regionals against Michigan.

(KANATA, Ont. ) - There will be a special guest in the house come Wednesday night at the Honda Center in Anaheim.
Thanks to Monday's night's 3-2 win by the Ducks, the Stanley Cup will be ready for a potential unveiling Wednesday.
The Ducks overcame the suspension to defenseman Chris Pronger, a bad first period in which they were out-shot 13-2, and a decidedly hostile environment at Scotiabank Place to grab a very clutch win. Read Full Article

Lonnie Lechelt was 3-for-4 with a home run for OSU (40-18 overall).

France, known to the racing world as Bill France, Jr., that thrust NASCAR to the top of the professional sporting world.
France died today, he was 74.
After taking the reins from his father, family patriarch Bill France, Sr., in January of 1972, Bill Jr. used his business acumen to take the family business to new heights.

Former women's basketball coach Dave Bale was named Salem-area Small College Coach of the Year for the second year in a row after guiding the Warriors to a school-record 27 wins, its first-ever regular season conference crown, and its third national tournament appearance in the past five seasons.
Bale, who has stepped down from his position as head coach following the 2006-07 season to focus on his teaching duties at the college, became only the third coach in the 34-year history to receive the Chuck Bowles Coach of the Year award in back-to-back years.
