NASCAR Busch Series: Bowyer Wins Circuit City 250

Carl Edwards leads the Series Championship with 1793 points, 402 in front of defending champion Kevin Harvick.

(RICHMOND, VA) - Clint Bowyer photoClint Bowyer won a thrilling Circuit City 250 Presented by FUNAI, by 1.4 seconds, beating out Matt Kenseth, Jeff Burton, defending race winner and series champion Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch in a run to the checked flag following a late race caution.

Electing to take 4 tires like all the other leaders, Bowyer moved up three places on his last stop, thanks to quick work by his Richard Childress Racing crew.

Within the first 25 laps, there were three caution periods for accidents.

NBA Playoffs: Nets Eliminate Raptors

The Nets visit the Cavaliers on Sunday.

(EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.) - nj nets logoRichard Jefferson's key plays on both ends of the floor in the closing seconds helped New Jersey avoid a trip to Toronto for Game 7 and advance to the second round, where it will play the Cleveland Cavaliers in a best-of-seven series.

Jefferson made the go-ahead basket with 8.3 seconds left and stole Jose Calderon's entry pass to Chris Bosh in the post with 1.9 remaining in regulation to lift the Nets to a 98-97 home win over the Raptors on Friday.

Jefferson scored a game-high 24 points, while Jason Kidd finished two rebounds shy of a triple-double with 18 points, 15 assists and eight rebounds.

Washington Upsets No. 9 Oregon State, 6-2

On Friday, OSU left 14 runners on base, including nine in scoring position.

(SEATTLE) - osu baseball photoThe largest crowd ever to see a Pacific-10 baseball game watched ninth-ranked Oregon State fall to Washington 6-2 on Friday night at Safeco Field.

Of the gathering of 10,421 at the Seattle Mariners’ home ballpark, nearly half appeared to be wearing OSU’s orange and black.

OSU starter Mike Stutes saw his record fall to 9-2 as he pitched 5 1/3 innings and allowed five runs on seven hits and five walks while striking out five.

Pac-10 Softball: ASU Nips Beavers, 5-4

OSU plays No. 5 Arizona on Saturday.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - osu softball photoArizona State’s Mindy Cowles hit an eighth inning home run to lead the No. 9 ranked Sun Devils to a 5-4 victory over No. 15 Oregon State in Friday’s Pac-10 softball action.

The game was the second in as many meetings between the Beavers and Sun Devils to go extra innings – the two teams played 11 innings before ASU recorded an 8-7 victory on April 22nd in Tempe.

Oregon State (36-19; 7-9 Pac-10) rallied back from a two-run deficit in the bottom of the seventh to send the game into extra innings.

Pac-10 Softball: Homers Lead Arizona over Oregon, 6-2

Oregon, which has now dropped four straight, falls to 39-15 overall and 4-12 in the Pac-10.

(EUGENE) - oregon Suzie BarnesFifth-ranked Arizona homered on back-to-back pitches in the seventh inning, leading the Wildcats to a 6-2 victory over 18th-ranked Oregon on Friday afternoon at Howe Field.

The defending national champs and Pacific-10 Conference leaders improve to 36-10-1 overall and 12-3-1 in league.

Trailing 4-0 entering the sixth, Oregon started its comeback as senior Suzie Barnes led off the inning with a walk.

NBA: NBA Announces Early Entries for 2007 NBA Draft

(NEW YORK) - National Basketball AssociationThe National Basketball Association announced on Thursday, that 83 players, including 58 players from U.S. colleges and institutions and 25 international players, have filed as early entry candidates for the 2007 NBA Draft.

Players wishing to renounce their remaining intercollegiate eligibility and enter the 2007 NBA Draft were required to submit a letter to the NBA to be received no later than Sunday, April 29th.

Players who have applied for early entry have the right to withdraw their names from consideration for the Draft by notifying the NBA of their decision in writing no later than 5:00 PM ET on Monday, June 18th.

The home team has won every game in this series.

(SALT LAKE CITY) - utah jazz logoCarlos Boozer scored 22 points and pulled down nine rebounds and the Jazz shot 55 percent from the floor in the first half to force a Game 7 with a 94-82 Game 6 victory over the Rockets on Thursday.

Mehmet Okur posted 19 points, including four 3-pointers in the second half, and pulled down nine rebounds.

The Rockets Tracy McGrady scored a game-high 26 points.

GNAC Softball: Western Oregon, Seattle Split Doubleheader

Katie Antich (SU) and Tyler Sutherland (WOU) had three hits each in the game to lead their teams.

(SEATTLE, Wash.) - WOU Tyler SutherlandWestern Oregon’s quest for a first-ever Great Northwest Athletic Conference softball title moved one step closer to fruition on Friday when the Wolves split a league doubleheader with Seattle University at Logan Field.

The Redhawks won the first game 8-4, but WOU came back to win the very important nightcap, 7-4 in 10 innings.

The Wolves moved to 14-4 in conference play (25-21 overall), while Seattle moved to 13-7 in the GNAC and 30-21 on the season.
