(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - One of the nation’s top college football publications has selected the Oregon State University football team No. 22 in its preseason rankings.
The Athlons Sports editorial staff has also selected junior offensive guard Jeremy Perry and senior placekicker Alexis Serna as preseason second team All-Americans and first team All-Pac-10 Conference.
Senior wide receiver/punt returner Sammie Stroughter, senior running back Yvenson Bernard, senior offensive guard Roy Schuening and senior linebacker Derrick Doggett also were selected first team all-conference. Read Full Article

(PHOENIX) - The Suns accomplished late Wednesday night what their next oppononent secured earlier in the evening: a second-round playoff berth.
Phoenix never trailed and led by as many as 16 points en route to a 119-110 win over the Lakers in Game 5, wrapping up their first-round series to set up a rematch of the 2005 Western Conference Finals with San Antonio; the Spurs advanced to Round 2 by beating Denver in five-games, as well.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - Jill Sawatzky has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Oregon State volleyball program in the fall, head coach Taras Liskevych announced Wednesday.
Sawatzky, a 6-0, outside hitter from St. Andrews, Manitoba, Canada is currently a senior at Lord Selkirk Secondary and also plays for Club West.
Last fall, Sawatzky led her high school team to its third consecutive Provincial AAAA championship and her second Provincial Championship MVP in a row.

(NEW YORK) - Brandon Roy of the Portland Trail Blazers will receive the Eddie Gottlieb Trophy as the 2006-07 T-Mobile NBA Rookie of the Year, the NBA announced today.
Roy received 127 out of a possible 128 first-place votes (638 points) from a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters throughout the United States and Canada.
Toronto’s Andrea Bargnani finished second with 264 points and Memphis’ Rudy Gay finished third with 93 points.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - Oregon State catcher Mitch Canham is one of 50 players from across the country named as a semifinalist for the USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award, given annually to the nation’s top collegiate player.
Canham (Lake Stevens, Wash./Lake Stevens HS), a junior, was on the list announced Tuesday.
Canham is also among 50 players on the watch list for the Dick Howser Trophy, which is given to the nation’s top player as selected by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. Read Full Article

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - The Oregon State University football games at USC and at Oregon will be televised by either ABC or ESPN.
ESPN previously announced it will air the Sept. 6th game at Cincinnati at 4:30 PM PDT.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - Oregon State University is pleased to announce that the Willamette Volleyball Classic will be held on the OSU campus May 11th-13th.
The junior tournament, which will attract four different age groups (12’s, 14’s, 16’s, and 18’s), is expected to draw over 130 teams to Corvallis and the Oregon State campus during Mother’s Day weekend.
Thirty-four courts await the participants across campus, with courts at Gill Coliseum, Truax Indoor Center, OSU’s indoor tennis courts, Dixon Recreation Center, and Langton Hall. Read Full Article
