Booth Award, May Earns Jean Williams Award, at Willamette University Salem-News.com SportsWU Honors 71 Seniors on its 20 Intercollegiate Teams. (SALEM) - Senior running back Kevin Dean, senior swimmer Kei Otawa and senior track and field athlete Andrea May received the top awards during Willamette University’s Athletic Awards Night on Monday, April 30th.
Dean and Otawa were chosen as co-winners of the J.H. Booth Award, which goes to the senior male athlete who most exemplifies and demonstrates outstanding leadership, scholarship and athleticism.
May received the Jean Williams Award, which is presented each year to the senior female athletes who provided exceptional leadership, scholarship and athletic success.

(CHRISTINA LAKES, B.C.) - Junior Wade Douglas (Ontario, Ore.) opened the 2007 NAIA Region I Tournament with a two-round total of 7-over 149, including a school-record 1-under 70, as Corban's men's golf team sits in ninth place after Day One at Christina Lakes Golf Course.
After the opening day, Douglas put together a pair of rounds in the 70s, including a school-record 1-under 70 after the first eighteen. Over the closing eighteen, Douglas ended the afternoon with an 8-over 79 for his 36-hole total of 7-over 149 and sits ten strokes behind the tournament leader, Jade Dennill of the University of Victoria.

(NEWBERG, Ore.) - Preston Langeliers struck out Marc Tuttle and Patrick Desmond with the tying and go-ahead runs in scoring position in the top of the 9th inning, preserving a 9-8 win for George Fox University over the California State University-East Bay Pioneers in the Bruins’ final home game of the season Monday afternoon here at Morse Field.
The Bruins had built up a 9-1 lead after six innings on the strength of 14 hits, three East Bay errors, and some Pioneer pitching wildness. In the 1st inning, the Bruins got on the board when Drew Johnson and Pat Bailey singled, advanced on a sacrifice, and scored when Dan Wentzell’s ground ball was booted at second.

(CHRISTINA LAKES, British Columbia) - Junior Wade Douglas (Ontario, Ore.) posted a school-record 1-under 70, as Corban's men's golf team shot the best 18-hole score in program history en route to turning in an opening round total of 21-over 305 and sits eighth after the 1st round of the 2007 NAIA Region I Tournament on Monday morning at Christina Lakes Golf Course in the Canadian province of British Columbia.
Douglas, who currently lead the Warriors in scoring average, fired a team low score on the par 71 track in the province of British Columbia and trails the first round leader, James Roxburgh of the University of British Columbia, by four strokes heading into the final eighteen holes of day one.

Beaver senior pitcher Ta’Tyana McElroy (14-8) celebrated a near perfect birthday as the 22-year-old hurler faced just three batters above the minimum and threw only 62 pitches on the afternoon.
Oregon State (36-18) took advantage of multiple UCSB (26-19) errors in the second inning to put a pair of runs on the scoreboard.

(SALEM) - Willamette University scored three runs in its final at bat of the season, as the Bearcats rallied to defeat Pacific University, 4-3, in the second game of a doubleheader on Sunday, April 29th at the WU Softball Field. Pacific won the first game, 3-0, behind 15 strikeouts from pitcher Miranda McNealy.
The Bearcats concluded the season with an overall record of 20-17, while earning a 14-14 record in the Northwest Conference (4th place). Pacific ended the year with a 25-13 record, including 17-11 in the NWC (3rd place).

Willamette completed the sweep by rallying from a 1-0 deficit to take a 2-1 victory in the second game. Cirbi Anthony (So., CF, Vale, OR/Vale HS) scored the winning run with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning.

(MONMOUTH, Ore.) - Western Oregon rallied from a 3-0 deficit with two runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh inning to claim a 4-3 win over Saint Martin’s in the second game of a Great Northwest Athletic Conference doubleheader on Saturday at the WOU Softball Field.
The Wolves also won the first game, 4-0, and are now 24-20 on the season and 13-3 in conference play. Western Washington and Seattle are both two games back at 11-5 in GNAC play.
