(CORVALLIS) - John Wallace’s three-run homer highlighted Oregon State’s seven-run first inning as the fifth-ranked Beavers beat San Francisco 9-2 in non-conference baseball Saturday afternoon at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field.
Mitch Canham added a two-run homer and Joe Paterson pitched six innings for the win for OSU (19-3 overall), which now has a season-high eight-game winning streak.
On Saturday, the Beavers clinched the series win against the Dons -- the defending West Coast Conference champions -- and stayed unbeaten in five home games this season.

(SACRAMENTO. Calif. ) - Vanderbilt and Washington State didn't have much NCAA tournament experience, yet neither club showed it in a double-overtime thriller.
And Derrick Byars made the plays to keep the Commodores in the spotlight for at least a few more days.
Byars scored 27 points, Shan Foster added 20 and Vanderbilt took control in the second overtime, beating Washington State 78-74 Saturday in a dynamite second-round game in the East Regional.

All in a day's work for Acie Law.
The Texas A&M point guard whose cool demeanor earned him the nickname "Captain Clutch," did it again. Law took over late and led the Aggies past Louisville 72-69 Saturday in the second round of the South Regional.
Rick Pitino's Cardinals had their chances, too. Especially Edgar Sosa.
Sosa scored 31 points but, after going 15-for-15 from the foul line, missed two free throws with 30 seconds left and Louisville trailing by a point.

A.J. Graves and company proved the Bulldogs can play with anyone -- including Maryland.
Graves scored 19 points, including a clutch 3-point basket with 2:09 remaining to lift the Bulldogs to a 62-59 win over Maryland in the second round of the NCAA tournament Saturday.

(LEXINGTON, Ky.) - Ohio State thought Greg Oden was its best shot at a national championship. Turns out it was Ron Lewis, and in the nick of time.
Lewis hit a long-range 3-pointer with two seconds left to force overtime, and the top-seeded Buckeyes rallied from a late 11-point deficit to beat Xavier 78-71 Saturday in a second-round South Regional game.
Ohio State trailed 55-44 with 7 1/2 minutes left, and was still down 59-50 with 3:49 left.

(CORVALLIS) - The No. 15 ranked Oregon State softball team cruised to an 8-0 victory in six innings against South Dakota State in Saturday’s home opener.
Oregon State (20-9) improved its record in home openers to 11-2 all-time under the direction of head coach Kirk Walker, as the Beavers made short work of South Dakota State (9-11) in the Cascade Clash.
OSU scored early and often, as junior utility player Cambria Miranda roped her third triple in as many games to help the Beavers take a 1-0 advantage in the bottom of the third inning.
