NASCAR: Tony Stewart Captures Third Budweiser Shootout

(DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.) - Tony Stewart kicked off the 2007 NASCAR season by taking the checkered flag under the lights in the 29th annual Budweiser Shootout - his 10th win overall at the Daytona International Speedway.

Stewart slipped past Kyle Busch on Lap 63 and then held off the surprising David Gilliland and third-place finisher Kurt Busch to win the All-Star non-points event that features the previous season's pole winners and past Budweiser Shootout champions.

Beavers Keep Sun Devils Winless in Pac-10

(CORVALLIS) - Sasa Cuic had 22 points on Saturday as Oregon State ended a seven-game losing streak with a 59-55 win against Arizona State in a Pacific-10 Conference game at Gill Coliseum.

Wesley Washington added 13 points and seven rebounds for Oregon State (10-16, 2-11), which outscored Arizona State 7-0 late in the second half.

Gerhart Captures Fifth ARCA 200 Victory

(DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.) - Bobby Gerhart captured his third straight ARCA 200 ARCA RE/MAX Series victory Saturday night and his fifth overall win, taking the checkered flag for the 44th annual ARCA 200 at historic Daytona International Speedway.

Surviving a green-white-checkered finish, Gerhart held off second-place finisher Marc Mitchell and third-place finisher Jeremy Clements.

Bruins Open Softball Season with Pair of Losses to Cavaliers

(NEWBERG) - Three hits in each game was not enough offense for the George Fox University Bruins as they dropped a season-opening softball doubleheader to the visiting Concordia University-Portland Cavaliers, 6-0 and 15-3, Saturday afternoon here at the Morse Field Complex.

Annele Huckins (1-0) and Carleen Lessard combined on the shutout in the first game, Huckins going the first six innings and striking out 11 while walking only one.

No. 15 OSU Defeats Georgia Again, 7-3

(ATHENS, Georgia) - Oregon State scored seven runs in the top of the eighth inning and the 15th-ranked Beavers beat Georgia 7-3 in non-conference baseball Saturday afternoon at Foley Field.

Jordan Lennerton’s three-run double tied the game, then he scored the go-ahead run on Koa Kahalehoe’s single as OSU (6-0 overall) rallied in the late innings for the second straight day.

OSU Women Fall To No. 10 Arizona State, 78-63

(TEMPE, Ariz.) - Senior guard Casey Nash scored 24 points to lead three Oregon State players in double figures, but No. 10 ranked Arizona State came away with a 78-63 victory in Saturday’s Pac-10 women’s basketball game.

Arizona State (23-3; 13-2 Pac-10) scored the game’s first eight points and never looked back.

Oregon State (8-15; 3-11 Pac-10) trailed by as many as 17 points in the opening 20 minutes but rallied back behind Nash’s 18 first half points to cut the Sun Devil lead to 46-35 at intermission.

Oregon Women's 4x400m Smashes School Record

(FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. ) - In Saturday’s second and final day action of the Tyson Invitational, the University of Oregon women’s 4x400-meter relay added its second school record of the weekend in the event hosted by the University of Arkansas in the Randal A. Tyson Track Center.

The quartet of junior Kavina Hall, sophomores Rebekah Noble and Leah Worthen and freshman Keshia Baker finished third overall and second in their heat in a time of 3:38.92.

Ducks Split in the Desert, Defeat Wildcats 59-55

(TUCSON, Ariz. ) - Kaela Chapdelaine led Oregon with 10 points, and Eleanor Haring made two free throws with 3 seconds left to seal a 59-55 victory over Arizona Saturday.

Arizona's Ashley Whisonant had a chance to tie the game with seven seconds left but missed a crowded shot inside the lane.

Haring, who had nine points, grabbed the board and converted her charity tosses to give the Ducks (14-10, 6-8 Pac-10) a four-point cushion and break a six-game losing streak in McKale Center.

No. 24 Arizona Rallies to Defeat No. 13 Oregon, 77-74

(EUGENE) - Freshman Chase Budinger had 30 points and 10 rebounds, Ivan Radenovic hit a go-ahead jumper with 6 seconds left and No. 24 Arizona rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit to beat No. 13 Oregon 77-74 on Saturday.

Jawann McClellan's 3-pointer pulled the Wildcats to 66-64 before Budinger's jumper tied it. Marcus Williams' hook shot put Arizona ahead for the first time, 68-66, with 3:17 left.
