No. 15 Oregon State Completes Sweep of Georgia

(ATHENS, Georgia) - Mitch Canham’s three-run homer in the top of the seventh inning gave Oregon State the lead for good as the 15th-ranked Beavers beat Georgia 6-2 on Sunday afternoon in non-conference baseball at Foley Field.

Canham’s homer broke a 2-2 tie as the Beavers (7-0 overall) completed a three-game sweep of the Bulldogs (0-3).

MLB News: Twins, Mauer Agree on New 4-Year Deal

(MINNEAPOLIS) - Salem-News.com SportsThe Minnesota Twins have announced that they have agreed to terms with All-Star catcher Joe Mauer on a four-year contract that runs through the 2010 season.

Mauer, 23, led the Major Leagues with a .347 (181-521) batting average and became the first-ever American League catcher to win the batting title.

Bruins Battle Back from Big Deficit to Baffle Boxers

(NEWBERG) - Down by 13 points midway through the second half and by 10 with 7:30 to play, the George Fox University Bruins staged a furious comeback to defeat the visiting Pacific University Boxers 68-59 in a Northwest Conference men’s basketball game Saturday night at the Wheeler Sports Center’s Miller Gym.

The Bruins opened the game with a basket by Chris Parker and a three-pointer and a pair of free throws by Phil Heu-Weller for a 7-0 lead in the first two minutes before Ross Bartlett’s two free throws at the 17:54 mark got Pacific on the scoreboard.

Seattle Pacific Stops Wolves, 72-61

(MONMOUTH) - Seattle Pacific’s Dustin Bremerman had 21 points and his Falcons led from start to finish during a 72-61 men’s basketball win on Saturday night over Western Oregon at the Physical Education Building.

The win improved Seattle Pacific’s overall record to 15-8, and they are now 8-4 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

Ducks Shatter School Records & NCAA Marks at Husky Collegiate

(SEATTLE) - Sophomore Galen Rupp and redshirt senior Britney Henry scored indoor school records and were among nine Ducks (6M / 3W) that claimed NCAA track and field qualifying marks Saturday in the Husky Collegiate, hosted by the University of Washington in the Dempesy Indoor Center.

Rupp rewrote his school indoor record in the 5,000m thanks to a whopping 9.51-second personal best in what may prove to be the fastest collegiate contest of the year (second, 13:38.62).

Loggers Shutout Warriors in Game One, 6-0

(TACOMA, Wash. ) - In the opening game of a double header between the Warriors and the Loggers, seniors Ryan Heil and Brett Timmerman combined to go 4-for-7 at the plate but it was not enough as Corban's baseball team fell, 6-0, to Puget Sound on Saturday.

After having four men go to the plate in the opening inning with junior Jamie McGraw reaching via a walk and his first of two stolen bases, junior starter Jordan Emery took on the mighty bats of UPS and got stung.

Corban-Puget Sound End Night Cap in 13-13 Tie

(TACOMA, Wash. ) - Following a scoreless opening game effort by the Warriors, Corban's baseball team exploded for thirteen runs in the night cap only to have darkness and an identical thirteen runs by the host Loggers end the second half of Saturday's double header in a tie.

Corban senior Ryan Heil led all players with a 5-for-6 performance at the plate with four runs scored and 2 runs batted in.

Corban Women Pound Warner Pacific, 86-69

(PORTLAND) - Seniors Jessi Norton and Tosha Wilson combined to score 46 points, as Corban's women's basketball team extended its winning streak to six games thanks to an 86-69 victory over the Knights of Warner Pacific on Saturday.

Norton led all players with 26 points on 9-for-14 shooting from the field, while Wilson turn in an all-around game with 20 points on a perfect 7-for-7 shooting from the field to go along with 7 rebounds, a game-high 7 assists, and a game-high 5 steals in 39 minutes of action.

Linfield Rallies to Down Willamette, 83-80

(McMINNVILLE) - Linfield College connected on six three-pointers in the final 9:28 and shot 61.3% from the field in the second half (19 of 31), as the Wildcats rallied to defeat visiting Willamette University, 83-80, in a Northwest Conference game at Ted Wilson Gym Saturday night.

The Bearcats held a 63-54 advantage with 9:54 left, before Linfield concluded the game with a 29-17 run.
