Oregon's Klotz Finishes Second in USA Jr. XC Finale

(BOULDER, Colo. ) - University of Oregon freshman Kenny Klotz claimed runner-up honors Saturday in the USA Cross Country Championships junior race, and earned a spot on the U.S. team for the upcoming 35th World Cross Country Championships, in Mobasa, Kenya (3/24).

The Portland, Ore., native ran 26:18 in the 8,000m race held Saturday at the Flatirons Golf Course, and was only 11 seconds behind event champion Elliot Heath (26:07).

Fellow Duck freshman Isaac Stoutenburgh also finished top-15 Saturday in the junior men’s race (14th, 26:51).

Beavers Finish Third, Vaulters Post Season-Best

(STANFORD, Calif.) - The 15th-ranked Oregon State gymnastics team struggled at Stanford finishing third at the Cardinal’s Breast Cancer Awareness meet.

OSU scored a season-high on vault in the final rotation but the damage was done in prior rotations.

No. 6 Oregon State Rips Kansas, 7-0

(SAN DIEGO) - Senior pitcher Brianne McGowan moved into second place in the Oregon State career record book for victories as the No. 6 ranked Beavers shutout Kansas, 7-0, on Saturday morning at the San Diego State Tournament.

The win was the 76th in McGowan’s career, moving her into sole possession of second place on the OSU all-time charts behind Tarrah Beyster’s 91 career victories.

McGowan allowed four hits in four innings of scoreless work, before fellow senior Ta'Tyana McElroy threw the final three innings to earn her first save of the season.

Erin Crocker Earns ARCA 200 at Daytona Pole

(DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.) - Erin Crocker became the second female driver to capture a pole at historic Daytona International Speedway on Friday winning the top starting position for Saturday's ARCA 200 ARCA RE/MAX Series season opener.

Crocker, behind the wheel of the No. 98 Evernham Motorsports Dodge, qualified with a top speed of 182.219 mph to end Bobby Gerhart's quest for a fifth consecutive ARCA 200 pole.

No. 15 Oregon State Rallies to Beat Georgia, 10-8

(ATHENS, Georgia) - Oregon State scored six runs in the top of the ninth inning as the 15th-ranked Beavers beat Georgia 10-8 in non-conference baseball Friday evening at Foley Field.

Mike Lissman was 3-for-5 with a double and four runs batted in, and his two-run single in the ninth inning put OSU (5-0).

Linfield Men Suffer Third Straight Defeat

(McMINNVILLE) - Salem-News.com SportsUpset-minded Linfield couldn’t neutralize Lewis & Clark’s 3-point shot and the result was a 75-71 Northwest Conference defeat at noisy Ted Wilson Gym Friday night.

The visiting Pioneers (16-6, 11-3 NWC) won their seventh straight conference game, holding tight on their grip of second place in the standings with two games to play.

Linfield Men, Whitworth Women Take Early Leads in NWC Swimming Championships

(WALLA WALLA, Wash.) - The Linfield College men and the Whitworth College women have grabbed early leads in the race for the 2007 Northwest Conference swimming crowns.

The NWC Championship Meet, taking place at the new Paul and Louise Harvey Pool on the Whitman College campus, ended with Whitworth in front in the women’s team scoring with 212 points.

Andrus Scores 27 Points as Bearcats Defeat Bruins, 84-79

(SALEM) - Willamette University senior wing Rob Andrus scored a career-high 27 points and tied a school record by hitting 12 of 12 free throws, as he led the Bearcats to an 84-79 victory over George Fox University in his final game at Cone Field House Friday night.

Fellow senior C.J. Stuvland added 18 points for the Bearcats, who improved to 10-12, 6-7 in the Northwest Conference. George Fox fell to 11-11, including 6-7 in the NWC.
