Western Oregon dropped to 6-16 overall and to 4-8 in the GNAC. (MONMOUTH) - No. 8 regionally ranked Central Washington kept its’ post-season hopes alive with a 3-0 sweep over Western Oregon, topping the Wolves 30-25, 30-18, 30-27 in front of 410 fans on Thursday night at the Physical Education Building.
Central Washington’s Stephanie Powell had 15 kills to lead all players, while Rachael Schurman added 12 and Kristin Pasley added 11 for the visitors. Erika Stevens had 22 digs for CWU.
Shakira Jenkins had 10 kills to lead the Wolves, while Jessica Baty had 14 digs for the hosts. Lisa Martini had five blocks.

Salem-News.com Sports (October 19, 2006 19:46)OSU's Baseball Recruits Rank Highly Salem-News.com SPORTSBaseball America ranked OSU’s class as No. 20 in the nation, while Collegiate Baseball rated the Beavers’ group as No. 39 among the 293 programs that play NCAA Division I baseball. (CORVALLIS) - The recruiting class joining Oregon State’s baseball program for the 2006-07 academic year has been ranked among the nation’s best by both Baseball America magazine and Collegiate Baseball newspaper.
The rankings are for the group of players that entered OSU this fall and can play for the defending national champions during the 2007 season.

(MONMOUTH) - After back-to-back heart breaking Saturdays, Western Oregon hopes to rebound with a Homecoming contest Saturday against Southern Oregon at McArthur Field. Kick-off is set for 2:00 PM.
Raiders Revenge:
Speaking of rebounding, the Raiders of Southern Oregon are not the same team that the Wolves defeated 38-0 back on Sept. 23rd in Ashland. SOU has since bounced back to give Humboldt State (30-13) and Linfield (37-29) tough games, and they trounced traditional NAIA power Azusa Pacific, 57-7.

Salem-News.com Sports (October 18, 2006 18:52)Oregon State University A.D. Report By: OSU Director of Athletics Bob De Carolis(CORVALLIS) - With practices beginning for our men’s and women’s basketball teams, the timing is right to lay out our long-term plans for Gill Coliseum.
As I discussed in last month’s report, facilities are a key factor in major college athletics. I’m pleased to report that last month’s visit to lawmakers was successful. The state Legislature approved our facilities master plan conditionally, pending the outcome of Measure 48 on Nov. 7th.
The projected state bonds will complete the second phase of the Reser Stadium improvements and begin the long-awaited Gill Coliseum Annex, which total $30 million.

(CORVALLIS) - Both Oregon State and the University of Arizona are coming off their initial Pac-10 wins of the season. The Beavers snapped a two-game overall losing streak with their 27-17 win last week at Washington while Arizona ended a three-game skid with a 20-7 win at Stanford. Both teams rank among the league’s best at total defense, the Beavers are third allowing 302 yards per game and the Wildcats are fourth 306.
Oregon State swept the Pac-10 Players of the Week awards after Saturday’s win. Wide receiver Sammie Stroughter had 223 receiving yards (4th-highest in OSU history) and caught his first career touchdown pass; linebacker Derrick Doggett had 10 tackles, including two for loss, one sack and forced one fumble; and Alexis Serna was 2-for-2 on field goal attempts and tied an OSU record with his 80th consecutive successful extra point attempt.

Salem-News.com Sports (October 18, 2006 17:34)Ducks Face No. 8 Cal, No. 3 Stanford This Week Salem-News.com SPORTSLast week, Oregon swept its first two-match Pac-10 series in 17 years, defeating Arizona State, 3-1, on Thursday, and Arizona, 3-0, on Friday at Mac Court. (EUGENE) - The Ducks women’s volleyball team (14-3, 4-3 Pac-10) heads to the Bay Area for matches against No. 8 California and No. 3 Stanford on Thursday and Friday.
The No. 8 Golden Bears (14-4, 3-4), losers of three straight, are one game behind Oregon in the Pac-10 standings heading into Thursday’s clash. Against common opponents in 2006, Cal and UO are both 3-3. Oregon’s game record in those matches is 12-10 compared to 10-11 for the Bears.
Cal had the daunting task of facing No. 4 UCLA and No. 5 USC on the road last week and were swept by the Bruins before nabbing a game off the Women of Troy. Despite its recent mini slide, Cal remains one of three teams in the conference with an unbeaten record on its home court, posting a 9-0 mark this season.

The Ducks enter the week on top of the Pac-10 standings with 10 points (3-0-1), one point ahead of No. 3 UCLA (3-0-0).
The winning team in seven of the last nine Civil War games has scored at least three goals, including last season’s 4-2 Beaver win in Corvallis. The wildest game in the series came in 2003 when Oregon won 4-3 in overtime -- UO’s last win in the series. The Ducks haven’t defeated the Beavers in Eugene since a 3-0 win in 1998. Oregon leads the overall series 5-4-1.

(SALEM) - Sophomore Fernardo Karczeski scored the game's first goal, but it was not enough as Corban's men's soccer team fell to the Knights of Warner Pacific, 3-1, in a battle for third place in the conference standings on Wednesday.
Coming into the game, Corban had a one point lead on Warner Pacific in the Cascade Collegiate Conference standings for third place and a win would have tied them with Concordia for second place heading into the final two weekends of the season.
In the 16th minute, Karczeski hooked up with juniors Joshua Crain and Caleb Louvier for his second goal of the season. Louvier began the play by dribbling through a host of Knight defenders before laying the ball off to Crain on the near sideline.
