Salem-News.com Sports (August 24, 2006 23:45)2007 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Schedule Salem-News.com SPORTSNASCAR also announces the schedule for Car of Tomorrow Implementation races and 2007 broadcast schedule. (DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.) - NASCAR has announced the 2007 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series schedule.
The 36-race slate begins with the 49th annual Daytona 500 on Sunday, Feb. 18 at Daytona International Speedway, and will conclude on Sunday, Nov. 18, at the Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Other key dates:
On Sunday, July 1, New Hampshire International Speedway will host the first event in the “Race to the Chase,” the 10-race prelude to the “Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup.”

(NASSAU, Bahamas) - Bryce Taylor and Malik Hairston each scored 22 points to lead Oregon to a 94-69 win over the Shockers, a Bahamian club team, Thursday night. It was the first action for Taylor since spraining his ankle in practice last Wednesday.
“Bryce played really well for us,” said head coach Ernie Kent. “He picked up right where he left off before he got hurt and it was a big lift for us to have him back tonight.”
The game was close through the first half, with the Ducks holding just a two point lead at intermission, 41-39.

(LA JOLLA, Calif.) - Western Oregon pushed No. 14 nationally ranked Cal Poly Pomona to the edge of defeat before succumbing to the Broncos in five games to wrap up play on the first day of the UC San Diego Invitational.
The Wolves held a 2-1 game edge over CPP before the Broncos rallied to take a 30-28, 24-30, 16-30, 30-16, 15-9 win. Earlier in the day, WOU lost to No. 19 nationally ranked UC San Diego in three games.
It won’t get any easier for the Wolves on Friday at the tournament, as they will tackle No. 6 Cal State LA and No. 12 Cal State San Bernardino. They wrap up play on Saturday against Cal State Dominguez Hills.

(EUGENE) - The University of Oregon has been selected to host the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, the NCAA announced Thursday.
Hayward Field will host the four-day event, Wed.-Sat., June 9th-12th, 2010 – the 10th time it has welcomed the event since 1962, and most of any venue in modern history.
"The University of Oregon is thrilled to be selected to host the 2010 NCAA Track and Field Championships at historic Hayward Field,” Oregon director of athletics Bill Moos.

(SALEM) - Corban’s women’s soccer team looked impressive kicking off the 2006 season, as senior forward Lyndsey Hawk scored two goals and handed out two assists in leading the Warriors to a 4-0 victory over the University of Great Falls on Thursday.
The 5-foot-2 fourth-year player got things started for the home team in the 2nd minute when she took a one-two combo pass from junior Megan Waunch and senior Kathleen Studenny.
Hawk gathered the ball in front of the net and tapped a shot past the Lady Argonauts’ keeper into the lower right corner for the season’s first goal.

Returning starters Brent Haberly and Blair Phillips head the linebacking corp, with Haberly accumulating 63 tackles as a 12-game starter and Phillips recording 33 of his 45 tackles in his final five appearances.
Junior A.J. Tuitele acquired 31 of his 37 tackles in the first four games last year before injuries interrupted his progress and could be a force at either the weakside or strongside linebacker outposts.

Starting this fall, dues-paying members of the OSU Alumni Association will get into the center’s ballroom for free when they show their membership card at the door, while others will pay a $5 admission charge on a space-available basis.

The Oregon volleyball team welcomes seven newcomers and returns six players from last season’s squad, which finished 12-18 overall, 1-17 in the Pac-10 Conference. Among the returnees are SO OH Mira Djuric, a Pac-10 All-Freshman team member in 2005, and SO L Katie Swoboda, who earned honorable mention Pac-10 All-Freshman status.
