Salem-News.com Sports (April 18, 2006 22:08)2 Duke Lacrosse Players Arrested By TIM WHITMIRE, Associated Press Writer(DURHAM, N.C.) - Two 20-year-old Duke University lacrosse players were arrested early Tuesday on charges of raping and kidnapping a stripper hired to dance at an off-campus party.
Reade Seligmann posted a $400,000 bond and Collin Finnerty was in the process of doing so for the same amount, said Col. George Naylor of the Durham County jail. By posting bond, the players avoided making an initial court appearance later in the day.
Earlier, Seligmann, a 6-foot-1 sophomore from Essex Fells, N.J., and Finnerty, a 6-foot-3 sophomore from Garden City, N.Y., were led out of separate police cruisers in handcuffs. One was wearing a suit jacket, the other was in dress shirt and jeans.
Seligmann is "absolutely innocent," said his attorney, Kirk Osborn. "He's doing great. That's all I have to say." Read Full Article

Dunleavy scored 14 of his 20 points in the second half to help the Warriors win their fourth straight game, beating the Portland Trail Blazers 93-79 on Monday night.
"I'll be rooting for the (Los Angeles) Clippers but it will be tough knowing we were good enough to be there," said Dunleavy, whose father coaches the Clippers. "Winning makes you feel a little better but we're all still upset at the end of the season. We didn't get where we wanted to be, and where we were good enough to be. It's bittersweet." Salem-News.com Sports (April 16, 2006 14:27)Lawyer Ron Wins Arkansas Derby By NOAH TRISTER, AP Sports Writer(HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – AP) - Lawyer Ron broke quickly to the lead — faster than jockey John McKee had planned. It was as if the horse couldn't wait to show off his speed in his final Kentucky Derby tuneup.
"He got real aggressive with me going into the turn. Fortunately enough there was some room to get through the hole, and he just kind of took over the race," McKee said. "I thought I would be third or fourth, mid-pack. We had to go to Plan B after that."
Plan B led to the same result as usual. Lawyer Ron moved ahead at the start of the backstretch and never looked back, winning the $1 million Arkansas Derby on Saturday for his sixth straight victory. Trainer Bob Holthus' chestnut colt is now 7-for-7 lifetime on dirt — and remains one of the favorites to win three weeks from now at Churchill Downs. Read Full Article

You can't hurt me any more than you've already hurt me," Bonds said between sobs in the first episode. "I'm going to take it because there's so many people who depend on me."
Who would have known Barry had such a sensitive side?
Good thing he didn't break down in the clubhouse. There's supposed to be no crying in baseball.
Stay tuned, though, because there could be a lot more tears. Read Full Article
