Salem Police Officer Involved In Fatal Shooting of Woman

The deceased suspect in this case has been identified as 25-year Jacklynn Rashaun Ford. Her next of kin has been notified.

(SALEM) - Police involved shooting, Salem, Or 5-9-14 A Salem Police Officer was involved in an on-duty shooting on the evening of May 9 in northeast Salem.

Officer Trevor Morrison, a 12-year veteran of the Salem Police, made a traffic stop on a vehicle on Watson Ave NE near Alameda St NE at approximately 10:07 pm. A cover officer was requested, a foot pursuit ensued and shortly thereafter shots were fired and the suspect was wounded.

Community Members Say Officer Bob Owings is a Hazard for Salem Residents

Salem-News.com made an effort to reach the chief of Salem Police for an interview. Salem Police Lt. Dave Okada says the chief declined the opportunity as there is an investigation into the officer's actions.

(SALEM) - Stop Police Violence Salem Police Officer Bob Owings has a temper. We all saw the video last week of Owings tasering a young man with Asperger's Syndrome, it wasn't cool.

Owings has been making a name for himself on the Salem downtown beat, the taser incident is just the latest bout of reported violence from this man who could potentially target anyone he doesn't like.

Tasering Taxpayers to Death in Salem

The bottom line is that the Salem Police adopted this dangerous, controversial practice knowing how serious of a threat the "taser" is to the people it is used against.

(SALEM) - Salem skateboarder tased by police officer FOX-12 showed video this week of a Salem Police officer confronting a skateboarder at the Salem Transit Mall, then shooting him with a taser in a way that seems extremely unnecessary.

Salem Police know how dangerous the taser can be. In fact they exemplified the dark side of the act once when one of their own senior supervisors was tased during training a number of years ago, falling and receiving a very serious head injury.

Sheriff`s Deputies Investigating Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash

Deputies will determine over the next days whether any drivers will be cited for any driving offenses.

(SALEM) - Fatal crash, Salem Oregon 4-30-14 Yesterday at approximately 5:30 p.m., deputies with the Marion County Sheriff's Office Traffic Safety Team responded to the 9800 block of River Road NE, near Keizer.

The investigation conducted by Traffic Safety Team Deputies has determined that the 2013 Cadillac, driven by Loyd Penner, age 86, of Dallas was slowing and preparing to make a left hand turn into Egan Gardens.

Salem officer says he was confronted by 47-year old Michael Connelly who was brandishing a knife, Connelly was shot, his condition is unknown.

(SALEM) - Scene of police involved shooting A Salem Police Officer was involved in an on-duty shooting on the morning of April 30 at 4792 Lancaster Dr NE.

Officer David Baker, employed by the Salem Police Department for fourteen months, was dispatched to 4792 Lancaster Dr NE at approximately 7:13 am on a report of a domestic disturbance with one of the involved parties armed with a knife.

West Salem Woman Found Dead In Yamhill Landfill

An autopsy was conducted in Clackamas this morning by Dr. Cliff Nelson. The cause of death is currently undetermined pending the result of toxicology tests.

(SALEM) - Death investigation The Yamhill County Sheriff's Office contacted the Salem Police Department following the discovery of a dead body at the Riverbend Landfill.

It was determined that the body had arrived at the landfill in a garbage truck that had been collecting from dumpsters in West Salem. Detectives from Salem Police responded to the landfill to take over the investigation.

One Pet Dies in NE Salem House Fire

No firefighters were injured battling the house fire. One power line did burn and fall down onto the house, forcing crews to work around it.

(SALEM) - Salem, Oregon house fire 4-17-14 The homeowner at the scene of a fire at 2150 Lansing Avnue NE in Salem, told Salem-News.com that he had been welding a short time before discovering the fire. Battalion Chief Cord Van Derahe, confirmed that what turned out to be a two alarm house fire, started in the garage, and extended into the primary residence of the house.

In spite of the flames seen in this video, there was, "...minimal damage to the house, it was mostly just to the garage and one car," Van Derahe said.
