Kaiser Permanente Northwest Awards $9,000 Grant to YWCA Salem

In 2011, YWCA Salem helped nearly 7,000 people in the Salem/Keizer area.

(SALEM) - YWCA Salem YWCA Salem is grateful to have received a $9,000 grant from Kaiser Permanente Northwest on July 26, 2012.

The Grant will help cover the cost of Family Assistants who work the overnight and weekend shifts at the YWCA Salem Outreach Shelter.

Update on Weekend Shooting Involving Two Police Officers and Suspect

All three were injured During Saturday night shooting in Benton County.

(CORVALLIS, OR) - Police shooting near Indepencence, Oregon 11 August 2012 Police are continuing their investigation into Saturday night's shooting of a Benton County Sheriff's Office sergeant, a Salem Police Department corporal, and an adult male.

The shooting followed an attempt to elude law enforcement about 2 miles north of Adair Park just south of the Benton/Polk County line.

Man Dies in Jet Ski Accident on Willamette River

(SALEM) - Video and photo by Jerry Freeman Salem-News.com On Sunday, August 12 at approx 7:43pm, the Polk County Marine Patrol unit was notified of a boating accident Â3/4 mile up river from Wallace Marine Park involving a person being towed on an inner-tube behind a jet-ski.

The operator of the Jet-Ski (Salinas, Alejandro) was pulling his brother (Salinas, Enrique) behind a Honda Jet-Ski when they made a wide turn to head back towards Wallace Marine Park.

At approximately 3:50 p.m. OSP Capitol Mall troopers were notified and responded to an office that is part of a suite of offices for members of the Governor's staff.

FBI: Sikh Shooting Under Investigation as Possible Act of Domestic Terrorism

(MILWAUKEE / SALEM) - The president of the temple, Satwant Kaleka Police in Wisconsin say at least seven people were killed Sunday morning, including a gunman, at a Sikh temple located on S Howell Ave near the airport in the city of Oak Creek. The gunshots reportedly broke out around 10:30 a.m.

We know that a police officer was among those injured; the officer had responded to the reported shooting. The scene at the temple was described as chaotic.

(SALEM) - Stephanie Omnik, 33 of Salem It was quite a scene in Salem today when a woman failed to stop for police and instead fled from the city of Silverton, into north Salem.

Authorities first heard about the driver after a 911 caller reported a 1996 white Ford Econoline van driving recklessly on Silverton Road NE near Howell Prairie Road. This was at about 10:45 a.m., according to a press release issued today.
