System will pump heavy rain into coastal areas of Pacific Northwest.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Weather forecasts indicate that the storm pattern will continue today in the Northwest as a new Pacific storm slams into British Columbia. Through Thursday, the storm will pump heavy rain into coastal areas in the Pacific Northwest and several more feet of snow in the Cascades.

Up to 18 inches of snow will fall by tonight across the Washington and Oregon Cascades. Snow levels through tonight will drop to around 3,000 feet, well below the passes.

(NASHVILLE) - Tennessee experienced at least two waves of severe weather that ranged from high-winds and hail to deadly tornadoes. As of 5:30 AM Wednesday, the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency is reporting 26 confirmed fatalities related to the storm activity.

Those deaths, recorded by the Tennessee Department of Health, occurred in the following counties: Shelby, Fayette, Hardin, Macon, Madison, Sumner and Trousdale. More than 149 people have been reported as being injured and one person is presumed missing.

Other mountain roads remain snow-packed and icy. A mixture of rain and snow was falling at sea level in the Portland, Oregon, area Saturday evening.

(JUNEAU, Alaska) - The Coast Guard is continuing its search in the North Pacific Ocean for Michio Kanda. a balloon pilot reported missing approximately 435 miles south of Adak Island.

He was trying to top a long-distance world record of 4,767 miles (7,671 km) according to the Anchorage Daily News. Mr. Kanda was reported missing after he failed to check in with his support team by satellite phone, shortly after crossing the International Date Line.

(SALEM, Ore.) - A Heavy Snow Warning has been issued for the Willamette Valley of Oregon. Snow began falling in downtown Salem a little after 3:00 PM. The National Weather Service heavy snow warning will remain in effect until 4:00 PM Monday.

Today's rain and snow is expected to increase tonight and Monday. Today the snow level is close to 500 feet and it is expected to reach the valley floor tonight and Monday.

Stormy and Cold Weather Continues on West Coast (VIDEO)

Arctic air is spreading across the Pacific Northwest with only a slight moderating trend later in the weekend into early next week.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Tonight could see temperatures dropping to as low as 19 degrees in Salem. The capitol city will be one of the colder places in Western Oregon. Portland is expected to stay warmer with a low of 24 degrees tonight.

Tomorrow expect a high temperature of 38 locally, forecasters say it will feel more like 34 degrees though.
