Most Power Outages on West Coast Restored

Residents should remain prepared for difficult weather and continued or even repeated outages through Sunday.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Power lines Power crews made progress overnight restoring power in Southern Oregon, Northern California and Southeastern Washington. The overnight count of customers without power was cut nearly in half, to approximately 5,800 throughout the three states.

Company and contract crews continue to work around the clock to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.

In all honesty, you couldn't find two well known Americans who stand at more opposing positions than these two. Senator Barack Obama represents the face of radical change and an end to the war in Iraq. He promises to bring back policies that benefit people and causes that O'Reilly doesn't necessarily fight for.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - sex abuse prevention Many girls and boys will be sexually abused prior to their 18th birthday. The offenders will typically be someone they already know - perhaps a relative, friend, neighbor or one of the many volunteers and professionals who come in contact with them every day.

The Salem-Keizer School District is hosting sex abuse prevention training sessions this month to help parents keep their children safe from becoming a victim of sexual abuse.

Insect Attacks May Have Killed Dinosaurs

George Poinar Jr., a courtesy professor of zoology at Oregon State University, says that insects provide a plausible and effective explanation for the slow, inexorable decline and eventual extinction of dinosaurs over many thousands of years.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - OSU tick photo Asteroid impacts or massive volcanic flows might have occurred around the time dinosaurs became extinct, but a new book argues that the mightiest creatures the world has ever known may have been brought down by a tiny, much less dramatic force – biting, disease-carrying insects.

An important contributor to the demise of the dinosaurs, experts say, could have been the rise and evolution of insects, especially the slow-but-overwhelming threat posed by new disease carriers.

Boring Woman Dies in Highway 26 Crash East of Sandy

The passengers in the other vehicle were seriously injured.

(BORING, Ore.) - Fatal crash art Police say a Boring-area woman died Friday night when the car she was driving crossed into the opposite lanes of travel on Highway 26 about four miles east of Sandy and collided head-on with another vehicle.

Police say the woman's vehicle was westbound on Highway 26 when for an unknown reason, it crossed the centerline into the right eastbound lane where it crashed head-on with a Hyundai Tucson sport utility vehicle.

Among these he suggests doing away with 'multiple guess' exams returning to essay responses and blank answer spots where work is shown how they arrived at their answers.

Neal provides a good opening for discussion about testing. Before we get too deeply into the issue, it would be helpful to define some terminology, beginning with the terms assessment and evaluation, which are sometimes used interchangeably.

Teen Girl Dies in Crash Near Huntington

Fatal Traffic Crash - Interstate 84 west of Huntington

(HUNTINGTON, Ore.) - Fatal crash near Huntington, Oregon, 1-5-08 A 13-year old Pasco, Washington girl died and four others were seriously injured Saturday morning in a single vehicle rollover crash westbound Interstate 84 just west of the Huntington exit in eastern Oregon.

Around 6:30 AM, a Chevrolet sport utility vehicle driven by 38-year old Adrian Edwardo Garcia of Pasco, Washington was westbound on Interstate 84 when it lost control on the ice covered roadway and started to slide in a clockwise direction.

Death of Inmate Under Investigation in Multnomah County

Inmate death investigation in cooperation with the Gresham Police Department is underway.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - 36-year old Holly Jean Casey died last night while in custody at Multnomah County Jail. The death of 36-year old Holly Jean Casey is being investigated in Multnomah County. She was an inmate in custody when she died was found deceased in her cell on Friday at 7:30 AM.

An autopsy was performed on Friday by the Multnomah County Medical Examiners office. The MCSO has not received any official results from the autopsy.

Victim Identified in Fatal Wreck on Highway 213

20-year old Fregoso Navarro of Molalla, Oregon, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - Fatal crash investigation Police say a 20-year old Molalla woman died Friday morning when she lost control of her car on Highway 213 about 1/4 mile south of South Kropf Road and was struck broadside by a van.

Sergeant Dan Swift with Oregon State Police says that today at approximately 11:00 AM, a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt two-door driven by 20-year old Rocio Fregoso Navarro of Molalla, was southbound on Highway 213 near milepost 23 negotiating a right curve when it lost control.

Man`s Arm Crushed by Conveyor Belt in Canby

The extrication carried out by firefighters and employees took nearly 20 minutes.

(CANBY, Ore.) - Rescue of man whose arm was crushed in Canby, Oregon 1-4-08 A machine crushed a man's arm in a heavy steel belt roller at Canby Sand and Gravel. Canby firefighters say an employee was involved in a digging and hauling operation.

He was cleaning mud off a conveyor when he became entangled in the machine.
