(MOLALLA, Ore.) - I’ll bet a nickel that 90% of Americans don’t even know what I’m talking about; PTSD maybe; Pearl Harbor? “What’s that? Some vacation spot?”

Today is August 15th, 2007. I never believed I would see this day or many thousands of others. Pearl Harbor Day, December 7, 1941 was the worst wrenching of the American psyche ever. The Japanese attacked us without warning and nearly wiped out our Pacific Naval Fleet in Pearl Harbor. If it had done so, we would probably all be speaking Japanese now.

Share Your Thoughts on Oregon`s Beach Monitoring Program

The state is reevaluating the list of beaches that they will monitor over the coming winter.

(SALEM, Ore.) - The Oregon Department of Human Services seeks public comment regarding its list of proposed beach monitoring sites for the 2007 winter season.

The DHS beach monitoring program tests the water quality at selected Oregon beaches and notifies the public when elevated levels of bacteria are detected. Beaches are placed on the list based on the presence of pollution hazards, previous monitoring data showing compliance risks, use of the beach by the public, and recommendation by members of the public.

Crash at French Prairie Injures Mom and Daughter

The driver was seriously injured and transported by ambulance to Newberg Hospital. Her daughter, Alaura Stallings, received injuries and was also transported to the same hospital.

(FRENCH PRAIRIE, Ore.) - A McMinnville-area woman was seriously injured Monday morning when her sport utility vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed into the back of a flatbed trailer at the intersection of French Prairie Road and Highway 219 east of St. Paul.

Police say this morning at approximately 7:15 AM, a 1997 Honda Passport driven by 45-year old Juanita L. Stallings of McMinnville, was southbound on French Prairie Road taking her 7-year old daughter to school.

Be Aware! Use Caution on I-5 Northbound Near Coburg

ODOT asks any drivers approaching this area to slow down and proceed with caution.

(COBURG, Ore. ) - A semi-truck fire on northbound Interstate 5 about 2 miles north of the Coburg Interchange (Exit 199) that closed both lanes of the freeway for about 45 minutes has been contained and extinguished.

The fire, which occurred at milepost 201, started at about 9:00 PM due to a brake line malfunction. The fire spread to the trailer, and partially consumed several pallets of sugar.

Tualatin Police Catch Cell Phone Peeper

Tualatin police remind citizens to be constantly aware of their surroundings, and vigilant in reporting suspicious activity.

(TUALATIN, Ore. ) - Tualatin police have arrested a man they say was photographing a nude female with his cell phone.

Tualatin police spokesman Sgt. Greg Pickering said police were called to Island Tanning, located at 7552 SW Nyberg Road, Tuesday afternoon, after the female victim reported to an employee that she caught someone holding a cell phone over the top of the partition where she was tanning.

Pro-Censorship NIMBY Screed No Answer for Strip Clubs

If you dislike strip clubs, stay out. If you do not want businesses near your home do not buy homes near commercial areas.

(SALEM, Ore.) - I just finished reading the self-serving pro-censorship NIMBY screed of Julia Allison, chief petitioner for Measure 54 that she is trying to use to attack free speech and expression in the Oregon Constitution.

We have heard all the sophistry from her kind before. In fact there was, not too many years back, a similar attempt to promote censorship and paint Oregon's 'strongest free speech and expression rights in the nation' standing as a Bad Thing.

Oregon Gas Prices Drop Except in Salem

In Salem, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded rose 2-cents to $2.85.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - In the past week, the national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline dipped by almost two and a half cents to $2.77.

But, Oregon's statewide average price, $2.87, is less than a penny lower than a week ago. Crude oil is still trading for more than $80 per barrel and wholesale gasoline is up to $2.03.

Oregonians now pay an average four and a-half cents per gallon more than last month and only about a quarter more than they paid during the same time period in 2006.

82-Year-Old Salem Woman to Retire After 62-Years With Wells Fargo

Loewen started as a typist in Salem for the company on Feb. 1, 1944.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - It's been a long, enjoyable ride for 82-year-old Wells Fargo Trust Officer Esther Loewen of Salem, who is retiring on Oct. 31.

She calculates she has worked more than 62 years for the company, making her the longest-serving Wells Fargo employee in Oregon and possibly in the nation. "I've finally gotten to the age where I should retire. I want to leave while I'm still healthy," she said.

Child Rape Suspect Known to Frequent Farm Labor Camps

Jose Francisco-Francisco is Wanted for Rape of a Child.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - The Washington County Sheriff's Office hold valid warrants for the arrest of Jose Fransisco-Fransisco on the charges of Rape I, Sex Abuse I, and Rape II.

They say that on June 4th, 2005 Jose Francisco Francisco forcefully raped a 15-year-old girl at a farming labor camp in Cornelius. During the rape Francisco Francisco reportedly threatened to kill the victim if she told anyone. The victim became pregnant as a result of the rape.
