Oregon and Washington Federal Court Rehearings Sought Over BPA Residential Benefits

(SALEM, Ore.) - This week the Oregon Public Utility Commission joined with the Washington Utility Transportation Commission to urge the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals to reconsider its May 3rd, 2007 decision that prompted the Bonneville Power Administration to suspend residential exchange benefits to approximately 1.2 million Oregon households and small farm customers.

BPA’s action forced 13% rate hikes rates for customers of Portland General Electric (PGE) and PacifiCorp.

Eleven Oregon Meth Enforcement Programs Receive Grant Funds

Programs were awarded funds ranging between $18,400.00 and $50,159.00 for programs July 1st, 2007 through June 30th, 2008.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Eleven community-based methamphetamine enforcement programs around the State were recently awarded one-time grant funds through the Emergency Board Meth-Enforcement Grant Program. A total of $400,000.00 of grand funds was distributed to the selected programs.

"The funds were competitively distributed to local law enforcement agencies to support programs to reduce the manufacture and/or distribution of methamphetamine," said Ms. Karen Green, Oregon State Police Criminal Justice Services Division.

Man Dies in Crash Near Dayville, Oregon

Investigators say Mr. Young was ejected from the pickup and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

(DAYVILLE, Ore.) - An 18-year old Madras resident died early Friday morning when his pickup left Highway 26 about six miles east of Dayville and crashed.

Oregon State Police say that at approximately 6:15 AM, a 1990 Toyota pickup driven by 18-year old Joseph Robert Young of Madras was eastbound on Highway 26 near milepost 137 on a straight stretch approaching a curve.

Investigation Continues into Home Invasion Robbery In Willamina

Police say the two are considered armed and dangerous.

(WILLAMINA, Ore.) - The investigation into a home invasion robbery in Willamina entered its second day Friday. 40-year old John William Voigt of 134 NW First Street in Willamina was the victim of a robbery reported at 8:13 AM Thursday.

Voigt was transported via Life Flight helicopter to OHSU Hospital in Portland after he was discovered by his son, beaten and incoherent in his home.

Oregon Sheriff Found Guilty on 11 Counts of Sexual Abuse

Prosecutors say they will seek jail time.

(COQUILLE, Ore. ) - The former sheriff of Curry County has been convicted of sexually abusing three county workers.

A jury on Thursday convicted Mark Metcalf on 11 counts of sexual abuse, harassment and official misconduct. The charges are misdemeanors.

The sex abuse charge involves subjecting another to unwanted sexual contact.

Body Found in Willamette River is Missing Stockton, California Man

The Salem Police Department is continuing the investigation.

(DAYTON, Ore. ) - A body found in the Willamette River on July 10th has been identified as a Stockton, California man.

Yamhill County Sheriff Jack Crabtree said that the remains have been identified as those of Donald Wayne Tomason, 34 from Stockton California.

With the theme "Hiroshima-Nagasaki to Hope" the walk will commemorate the destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by U.S. atomic bombs. Each step the walkers take will be dedicated to achieving a nuclear free future.
