(VANCOUVER, Wash.) - A police officer has been shot in a standoff in Vancouver, Washington. Police report that the man who pulled the trigger is barricaded in a home.

A SWAT team is on the scene and hostage negotiators are in place. It began when police officers went to a home looking for a man who was suspected of firearm and drug charges.

(COLTON, Ore.) - A 15-year old Canby-area girl was critically injured Wednesday morning when the car she was riding in lost control and was struck by another vehicle on Highway 211 about two miles north of Colton.

The woman driving the car was seriously injured in the crash.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Troops on the ground in Iraq are not as much tired of the war as they are of those who are not in the fight saying that no progress has been made, a top commander in the region said today.

The troops there see progress every day, said British Army Lt. Gen. Graeme Lamb, deputy commander of Multinational Force Iraq and senior British representative in Iraq, speaking to Pentagon reporters via satellite.

Man`s Body Discovered on the Beach North of Newport

The unidentified white male is believed to be approximately forty to fifty years old. Investigators say the body does not appear to have been washed ashore.

(NEWPORT, Ore.) - Oregon State Police detectives are investigating the suspicious death of an unidentified adult male found Wednesday morning on the ocean shore west of Little Creek Cove in north Newport.

They are working with the the assistance of Newport Police, and Lincoln County's District Attorney and Medical Examiner.

Oregon Gas Prices Continue to Fall

Now that the most severe refinery problems have been resolved, gasoline production should increase, strengthening available inventories.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Rapid price increases due to refinery problems in the Midwest, drove up the national average price for a gallon of regular six-and-a-half cents to $3.04 in the past week.

In Oregon, gasoline prices continued their downward trend with the statewide average price falling two cents in the past week to $2.979.

At $2.979, Oregon's average gasoline price now ranks 17th lowest in the nation.

Search Underway for Missing McMinnville Woman Near Olallie Lake (UPDATE)

The missing hiker is Kelli Michelle Bryan, a 21-year-old Linfield College student who is working at Olallie Lake Resort for the summer.

(DETROIT, Ore. ) - Kelli Michelle Bryan, a 21-year-old Linfield College student, failed to return from a day hike in the Olallie Lake Scenic Area.

Marion County Sheriff's spokesman Kevin Rau says Bryan had left for a hike at about 8:30 AM Tuesday morning from Ollalie Lake Resort where she works.

Construction to Close Southbound Kuebler Blvd Off-Ramp Thursday Night

Drivers should expect delays of up to 20 minutes on southbound I-5 from 9:00 PM to midnight Thursday.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Contractors working for the Oregon Department of Transportation will close the right lane of I-5 southbound between the N. Santiam Highway (Oregon 22) exit 253 and Kuebler Boulevard exit 252 at 9:00 PM Thursday.

The I-5 southbound off-ramp to Kuebler Boulevard will also be closed to traffic. Workers will re-open the lane and off-ramp by 6:00 AM Friday.

Man Dies in Motorcycle Crash East of Roseburg (UPDATE)

The victim, 54-year old Mark William Doty of Roseburg, was wearing a protective helmet but it came off during the crash.

(ROSEBURG, Ore.) - A 54-year old man died Tuesday night after his motorcycle struck a guardrail and crashed Highway 138E east of Roseburg along Highway 138E.

Tuesday at approximately 10:52 PM, Mark Doty's 2007 BMW motorcycle was eastbound on Highway 138E near milepost 5 negotiating a curve when, for an unknown reason, it struck the guardrail along the eastbound shoulder.
