Crash Kills Motorcyclist in Yamhill County

The 75-year old rider was passing a vehicle when the crash happened.

(COVE ORCHARD, Ore.) - A Banks-area man died Sunday evening from injuries suffered earlier in the day when his motorcycle struck the side of a turning sport utility vehicle on Highway 47 in the town of Cove Orchard in Yamhill County.

Police say the four occupants in the sport utility vehicle were treated and released for minor injuries.

Former Salem Officer Sees Charges Dropped

Charges in two of the three cases have been dropped over a hung jury.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Charges of rape and sex abuse have been dropped against a former Salem Police officer. 39-year old Sterling Alexander was charged in three separate cases.

A split jury led to the latest development in the case. Alexander still faces sentencing on a second-degree Sex Abuse charge and over a conviction for Official Misconduct.

Two Teens Safe After Getting Lost Near Rooster Rock

Zachariah A. Beugli, age 18, and Tristan R. Propst, also 18, were located by deputies this morning at approximately 7:40 AM.

(SWEET HOME, Ore. ) - Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller reports that two Albany teens were found safe this morning after spending the night lost in the Rooster Rock area east of Sweet Home.

Deputies, Search and Rescue Post members, a REACH helicopter and members of the Sheriff's Mounted Posse spent the night searching the rough terrain when the youth's parents reported they were overdue from a hiking trip.

Oregon Authorities Expand Search for Missing Aircraft‎

The search efforts will continue to focus South of Aurora and will expand during the day to cover any leads that may come in.

(AURORA, Ore. ) - The Oregon Wing of the U.S. Civil Air Patrol is continuing it's search this morning for a missing Piper Cub single engine aircraft with one person on board that was reported missing by family on Saturday.

The pilot of the Piper Cub, a 68-year-old Portland resident who is a retired airline pilot, was conducting practice flights in his newly acquired aircraft Saturday when he failed to return as planned to the Aurora Airport.

Clackamas Deputies Arresting Large Crowd Over Riot

The disturbance happened at the Carber Park restroom.

(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) - A spokesman for the Clackamas County Sheriff, says deputies were arresting a large number of suspects at 8:30 PM at Carver Park.

Missing Idaho Woman Could be Enroute to Molalla, Oregon (UPDATE)

The woman was located safely in Walla Walla, Washington July 9th.

(EMMETT, Idaho) - Police in Oregon are trying to locate a missing 67-year old Idaho woman who has not been seen since July 4th, after unexpectedly leaving the home she shares with her husband.

Family members say the woman, Linda Mildred Cook, has a new medical condition that includes acute confusion. They believe that she may be driving to Molalla, Oregon where her daughter lives.

Motorcycle Engine Fire Sparks Four Alarm Grass Fire Near Albany

The fire is now under control and Highway 20 has re-opened.

(ALBANY, Ore. ) - An engine fire in a four-wheeler "quad" off-road vehicle sparked a four-alarm fire that burned about 200 acres of grass fields east of Albany Sunday afternoon, the Albany Fire Department reports.

The fire was reported at 3:02 PM in a field on Highway 20 near Harber Drive about three miles east of the Albany city limits. The call went to four alarms as winds shifted several times, fire officials said.

American Deaths in Afghanistan War Rival Iraq

A female soldier who died in Iraq had ties to McMinnville, Oregon, according to KGW TV.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - The U.S. death toll from the war in Afghanistan is generally far lower than the reported losses in Iraq. But July 5th and 6th 2007 are days that tell a different story.

On July 5th, two soldiers were killed in the Watapor Valley of Kunar Province, Afghanistan. Spc. Christopher S. Honaker, 23, of Cleveland, North Carolina, and Pfc. Joseph A. Miracle of Ortonville, Michigan, 22, died of wounds sustained from enemy small arms fire and indirect fire.

Oregon Authorities Searching for Missing Plane

(AURORA, Ore. ) - The Oregon U.S. Civil Air Patrol is opening a search effort this morning for an aircraft reported missing yesterday on a flight that began at the Aurora State Airport.

The CAP will be initiating the search from their Northern Command Center located at the North end of the field next to Willamette Aviation and Columbia Helicopters.
