Oregon Senate Passes Bill to Clean Up Electronic Waste

Legislation will mean protection of the environment through new recycling centers for old computers and electronic devices.

(SALEM, Ore.) - The Oregon Senate today passed House Bill 2626, legislation that will provide for the proper disposal of old computers, televisions and other electronic devices that could have detrimental environmental impacts if not handled correctly.

Backers say that because of the legislation, fewer electronic items will end up in Oregon landfills.

Two Dead After Drowning During Disturbance at Oregon`s Topsy Reservoir

Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the disturbance leading to the stabbing as well as the drowning deaths.

(TOPSY RESERVOIR, Ore.) - Klamath County Deputies and The Sheriff's Dive Rescue team responded to the Topsy Reservoir near Keno, just after 7:00 PM this evening, on a report of two males who appeared to be in trouble in the water.

They learned that one person had been stabbed, and that two people then went into the water after that. Both were found dead.

Ceremony Ends Oregon Guard Deployment in Afghanistan

Soldiers will be returning to Oregon after completion of their outprocessing at Ft. Carson, Colo.

(KABUL, Afghanistan) - In a ceremony held on May 28th, South Carolina officially received authority for Combined Joint Force Phoenix in Afghanistan.

This marks the end of the deployment for the men and women from the 41st Brigade Combat Team of the Oregon Army National Guard.

Oregon State Police Looking for Those Taking Dead Whale Parts

Oregon State Parks is working on a plan to remove and/or bury the whale, which will take place in the next few days.

(NEWPORT, Ore. ) - Oregon State Police Fish & Wildlife Division troopers working in conjunction with the NOAA Fisheries Service Office of Law Enforcement are investigating the illegal removal of parts from a dead beached whale near Seal Rock.

Salem Police Need Help Identifying Car Thief

The suspect appears to be a Hispanic male in his early 20's withshort dark hair, wearing a blue short sleeve shirt.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Salem Police Detectives are asking for the public's help in identifying a manwho stole are car from a south Salem Walmart parking lot on May 15th.

The 23-year-old victim parked her 1992 Honda Accord in the lot and went into the store. She came out about 15 minutes later and found her car missing.

Baby Survives Unspeakable Hanging in Dallas

Four children and their mother were found hanging in a Texas mobile home, police say it was a murder/suicide.

(DALLAS, Tx.) - A Texas mother and her four children were discovered hanging by a neighbor today. They were discovered in the motor home the woman shared with her kids. One of the four children, an eight-month old baby girl, survived.

Police say it happened in a community about 25 miles west of Fort Worth. They confirm the four deaths and say that it appears to be a murder suicide. The children were all female. The woman's husband did not live at the home and it appears that he is not a suspect in the deaths.

Driver Extricated and Life-Flighted from TV Highway Crash

The second vehicle involved in the incident, had an adult male driver and a 3-5 year old boy.

(ALOHA, Ore. ) - Just before 10:00 AM Tuesday morning, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue was called to a two car motor vehicle collision on Tualatin Valley Highway near 192nd Avenue in Aloha.

When crews arrived they found a Subaru Sedan in a ditch with the male driver trapped inside.

Firefighters worked for 25 minutes to remove the vehicle's roof and extricate the driver who is believed to have sustained serious injuries.
