Fire Damages Moblie Taco Stand

The fire caused an estimated $30,000 to the moblie food truck.

(SALEM) - Salem fire investigators are trying to determine what caused a fire inside a moblie food truck early this morning.

Salem fire spokesman Bill Holstrom says firefighters were called out just after 7:00 AM to a vehicle fire ar 2309 Cherry Ave NE.

When crews arrived they had a fully involved mobile food unit.

Man Robbed at Knifepoint in Downtown Salem

The suspects are described as in their early 20’s, between 140 to 160 pounds, 5’8 to 6’0, and wearing dark hooded sweatshirts.

(SALEM) - Salem police are asking for the public’s help in locating three men who robbed a Salem man at knifepoint early this morning in downtown Salem.

Lt. Dan Dietz says 47-year-old Michael Karnes was waiting to catch a commuter bus on Liberty Street SE just before 5:00 AM, when the three men approached him.

One of the men displayed a knife. Karnes struggled with the men, who got his wallet and fled the area. Karnes was not injured in the incident.

(SALEM) - The Plumbers and Steamfitters Union, Local 290, is now offering free training, apprenticeship programs and job placement to veterans looking to make a career change.

No experience is needed to receive the free training at one of nine schools statewide.

Upon completion of their training, new apprentices can choose to become a plumber or a pipe fitter.

Two More Teens Arrested in Molalla Sex Abuse Investigation

The two boys face a long list of charges.

(MOLALLA, Ore. ) - Oregon State Police detectives took into custody an 18-year old male senior and a 17-year old male junior Wednesday afternoon at Molalla High School related to a criminal investigation into alleged sexual misconduct involving some members of the boy's high school basketball team during a December 2006 road trip.

Wednesday's arrests follow April 26th's arrest of a 17-year old male juvenile on similar charges.

Five Missing WWII Airmen are Identified

On Sept. 21st, 1944, a C-47A Skytrain crewed by the airmen was delivering Polish paratroopers to a drop zone south of Arnhem, Holland, in support of "Operation Market Garden."

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - The Department of Defense POW/Missing Personnel Office announced today that the remains of five U.S. servicemen, missing from World War II, have been identified and are being returned to their families for burial with full military honors.

They are 1st Lt. Cecil W. Biggs, of Teague, Texas; 1st Lt. William L. Pearce, of San Antonio, Texas; 2nd Lt. Thomas R. Yenner, of Kingston, Pa.; Tech. Sgt. Russell W. Abendschoen of York, Pa.; and Staff Sgt. George G. Herbst of Brooklyn, N.Y.; all U.S. Army Air Forces.

World War II Amphibious Landing Craft Listed in National Register of Historic Places

The vessel was used mainly in the Southwest Pacific and was part of task force that landed elements of the Oregon National Guard during an assault on Zamboanga City in the Philippines.

(ASTORIA, Ore.) - The National Park Service has informed Oregon's State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) that a World War II landing craft now preserved as the Amphibious Forces Memorial Museum Ship in Astoria has been listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Commissioned in 1944 as the USS LCI-713, the vessel is the last survivor in a class of more than 3,000 ships built during the war to land troops and material directly onto beaches.

FDA Proposes Suicide Warnings on Antidepressant Medications

Manufacturers of antidepressants will now have 30 days to submit their revised product labels and revised Medication Guides to FDA for review.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today proposed that makers of all antidepressant medications update the existing black box warning on their products' labeling to include warnings about increased risks of suicidal thinking and behavior, known as suicidality, in young adults ages 18 to 24 during initial treatment (generally the first one to two months).

The proposed labeling changes also include language stating that scientific data did not show this increased risk in adults older than 24, and that adults ages 65 and older taking antidepressants have a decreased risk of suicidality.
