Keizer Man Transported to Emanuel Hospital After Motorcycle Crash

The rider apparently only sustained minor injuries.

(SALEM) - A Keizer motorcycle rider is alive following what police describe as a high speed crash into a barn. Marion County Sheriff's Office Spokesman Kevin Rau says 22-year-old James Mullins slid up to 1,500 feet before crashing.

It happened in Keizer Monday shortly before 11:30 AM. Investigators at the scene say the bike was probably going over 100 mph when the crash happened.

Investigators say Mullins was riding his 1994 Honda CBS motorcycle northbound in the 16500 block of River Rd N when he lost control of the bike which left the roadway and crashed into a barn.

EEOC Settles Age Discrimination Suit Against Woodburn, Oregon Fertilizer Company Owner

55-Year-Old Secretary Harassed, Mistreated Because of Age, Agency Charged.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Woodburn- based Scott and Patty Corporation, formerly known as Woodburn Fertilizer, Inc., will pay $85,000 to settle an age discrimination lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.

The EEOC had charged in its lawsuit (Case No. CV 06-1109-MWM in U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon), filed in July this year, that Woodburn Fertilizer subjected a longtime 55-year-old accounting secretary to harassment and unequal treatment because of her age in violation of the Age
Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA). Scott and Patty Corporation denies liability.

Update: Amber Alert Cancelled in Washington

Police say they were never able to establish a victim in the incident that was reported by a small child.

(EVERETT, Wa.) - Police in Everett, Washington say a student from Discovery Elementary witnessed a male grab a boy and force him into his vehicle.

It reportedly happened at 11700 Meridian Ave on Monday at 8:00AM.

But at this point they have lifted the Amber Alert, as the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office has been unable to indentify a victim and has no further information on a possible missing child.

The boy is described as a 5 to 7-year old, 3 foot 6 inches tall, unknown weight or hair color. He was wearing a dark colored knit cap, and a dark colored coat. He also had a backpack.

(PORTLAND) - An interagency traffic safety patrol Sunday kicked off extra enforcement directed by Oregon State Police troopers and Clackamas County sheriff deputies using overtime grant funds in the U.S. Highway 26 Mt. Hood Safety Corridor, one of six safety corridors around the State selected by the Oregon Department of Transportation to help law enforcement agencies pay overtime for dedicated traffic enforcement in these areas.

"There are currently 13 state highway safety corridors in Oregon," said Anne Holder, ODOT Safety Division Statewide Roadway Safety Program Manager.

Search Warrants Lead to Drug Arrests in Albany

A total of three people were arrested.

(ALBANY) - Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller says that two unrelated narcotics search warrants served since Friday led to arrests and seizure of dealer quantities of cocaine and marijuana.

Friday at about 1:43 PM the Linn Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at 1010 14th Ave SW in Albany. Seized during the raid was over 1 ounce of Cocaine, $5000.00 cash, marijuana, packaging material, drug paraphernalia, and scales.

Arrested at the scene was 51-year old Richard Albert Dalke who resides at that address. Dalke was charged with Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance within 1000 feet of a school and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Oregon Mother Won’t be Charged in Infant Stun Gun Abuse Case

The child remains in the protective custody of DHS.

(ALBANY) - The woman who turned her husband into authorities last month after he allegedly used a 100,00 volt stun-gun device on their 18-month-old son multiple times will not face any charges.

21-year old Jennifer Whittman was cleared by investigators of any criminal wrongdoing in the case, Albany police said.

Carter said investigators learned that Jennifer, who had caught her husband using the device on the child before, did the right thing by turning him in after the latest incident.

“She told investigators that when she confronted him about the first incident of abuse, her husband, 23-year-old Rian James Whittman, told her that it was never going to happen again, but then on Saturday, Feb. 3rd he did it again, and she immediately came to us for help,” Carter said.

Juvenile Uses Air-Soft Gun to Rob Portland Man Outside Gates Market

The 50-year-old victim from Portland was not injured in the incident.

(GATES) - The Marion County Sheriff’s office is investigating an armed robbery that occurred Sunday afternoon in Gates.

Sgt. Jeff Wheeler says deputies responded near the Sierra Market just before 4:30 PM, after receiving a call that someone had been robbed at gunpoint outside the market.

The suspect, who fled on foot, was described as a juvenile male, and used an air-soft pistol to commit the robbery Wheeler said.

Miller Elementary Students Benefit from $2,500 Safety Grant

ODOT contractor Hamilton Construction celebrates safety record by helping local kids.

(SALEM) - Students attending Miller Elementary School will benefit from a safety grant donated by Hamilton Construction, whose employees are celebrating more than 50,000 hours of injury-free work on the Interstate 5 freeway and bridge project in south Salem.

Hamilton vice president Bob Sherman presented a $2,500 check to Principal Mary Russell last week.

Hamilton Construction crews at the I-5 project in Salem have worked more than 50,000 hours without requiring a doctor's care.

Body Found on Umpqua River Identified as Missing OSU Student

Positive identification was made through a dental records match.

(MEDFORD) - The Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office has positively identified the body found Thursday afternoon in the North Umpqua River as 22-year-old Jeffrey Schmidt, from Medford.

Schmidt had been missing since a November 19th, 2006 traffic crash in that area.

Schmidt and his girlfriend Quinn Do Truong were traveling together November 19th when their Jeep Wrangler went over an embankment and into the North Umpqua River.
