I-5 Southbound in the Salem Area Closed This Afternoon (UPDATE- I-5 Closed Through 6:00 PM)

Salem Public Works has closed Southbound I-5 at Kuebler Boulevard. Traffic is being routed off at the Kuebler exit and then immediately back on. Still, serious traffic delays are expected through this evening.

(SALEM) - Southbound Interstate 5 between Mission Street/N. Santiam Highway and Kuebler Boulevard will be closed until about 6:00 PM this evening, while crews work on a fiber optic line that runs under the freeway, and then repave the road surface.

Plenty of Flu Vaccine Expected, Although Part of Some Orders Delayed

The American Lung Association of Oregon Web site lists 357 clinics scheduled so far statewide, and that Kaiser Permanente is scheduling flu-shot clinics beginning Oct. 14th.

(SALEM) - Oregon and the nation expect to have more vaccine available this year than ever, although as much as 50 percent of this year's supply may not arrive in Oregon until November and December.

"Supplies are arriving in Oregon daily but we encourage patience and persistence in seeking vaccinations this year," said Lorraine Duncan, immunization manager in the Oregon Department of Human Services Public Health Division.

(CLACKAMAS) - Ordinarily, a pro-life organization like Life Support would be endorsing a ballot measure that purports to reduce the number of children killed by abortion. However, we find ourselves entering into a world of the surreal after reading the “Parental Involvement and Support Act.”

This is such a flawed, compromised piece of legislation, that it does not deserve the support of pro-life Oregonians.

At best, this measure will fail to deliver on the promises made by those who are promoting this misnamed Act.

Oregon State Students, Engineers Helping to Bring Clean Water to El Salvador

Fuel Prices Continue Downward Trend; Oregon Average Price Now Nation`s 5th Highest

Fuel prices continue to fall. Oregon average price of $2.68 is down almost 7-cents since a week ago and now comparable to mid-April average price. Yet, it's 5th highest in the nation--even higher than California.

(SALEM) - The national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline now stands at $2.31, the lowest since the second week of January. Oregon's current average price—$2.68—is comparable to that of mid-April. In the past week, the national average price fell by more than a nickel per gallon while Oregon's went down by almost 7-cents.

Salem’s average price for a gallon of regular is $2.62, it beats Portland’s average by two cents.

Car Slams Through Salem Building

Officials suspect that the driver lost control during a near blackout.

(SALEM) - A Cadillac driven by a 62-year old Salem woman slammed into a rental office Tuesday afternoon according to Salem Fire Spokesman Bill Holmstrom, who says it is amazing that no injuries occurred.

The 1:30 PM crash happened at 1172 Royvonne, at the Highland Apartments.

Salem Firefighter/Paramedics responded to the crash at 1:31 PM Tuesday.
