Medical Marijuana, Drs. Oz and Gupta: Misinformed DoctorsDr. Phil Leveque Doctor of Pharmacology Salem-News.comLegal drugs kill more people than marijuana ever did, which is zero.
(PORTLAND, OR) - Doctor Mehmet Oz and Doctor Sanjay Gupta, both come from countries in which marijuana has been used as medicine for at least one thousand years. As such, it is surprising, at least to me, why they do not know more about its medical uses and its alleged dangerous misuses. All of the 18 states which have legalized marijuana, at least for medical purposes, have passed laws by their health departments authorizing marijuana use based on medical information from California. This includes the following diseases or medical conditions: Pain of almost any kind, spasms of almost any kind, nausea from any cause, cancer of almost any kind, seizures of almost any cause, cachexia of almost any cause, glaucoma of any kind, and HIV/AIDS. None of these conditions can be FAKED by a patient to a physician, but some physicians ARE a bit generous (for money) in giving authorizations for permits NOT prescriptions, for medical marijuana. Anti-marijuana comments by police, sheriff's, district attorneys, and Evangelical ministers, notwithstanding, are the results of their ignorance after watching the atrocious horror movies, Reefer Madness, Devil Weed, etc., which have absolutely no facts supporting them. Doctor Oz seems to think that medical marijuana was mostly for cancer, which represents only about 2% of patients. He also says it should not be used for severe anxiety and stress which are the predecessors of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Marijuana works best of any medication for PTSD of any cause. Both Dr. Oz and Dr. Gupta say that marijuana is not only easy to get, but a gateway to more dangerous drugs, presumably like heroin or legal killers like OxyContyn. Legal drugs kill more people than marijuana ever did, which is zero. Both doctors have put federally paid anti-marijuana quasi-doctors on television bleating about the dangers of marijuana, especially to the youth of 18-24. But they never cite the dangers. A loss of 8 points of IQ is not a danger. They would lose that with a glass of beer or wine or any caffeine energy drink. We are now getting a tsunami of newspaper and TV stories about the wide medical use of marijuana. Believe it or not, recreational use is like a bottle of beer, a glass of wine, some french fries or a cigarette, all of which are far more dangerous and lethal than using marijuana, which it is not. VIVA MARIJUANA, ITS HERE TO STAY!
More information on the history of Dr. Leveque can be found in his book, General Patton's Dogface Soldier of WWII about his own experiences "from a foxhole". If you are a World War II history buff, you don't want to miss it. Watch for more streaming video question and answer segments about medical marijuana with Bonnie King and Dr. Phil Leveque. These are actually medical doctors who never learned the first thing about healthcare, of course they are living to be on TV now and to satiate their egos.. They lack the professional training and background that you have Doc, it is hard to imagine.
