(DALLAS, Texas) - Oregon guard Tajuan Porter was among 12 players selected to represent the United States at the FIBA junior world championships this month in Sebia.
The 5-6 Porter made 110 three-pointers as a freshman in 2006-07, setting school and Pac-10 freshman records.
The 5-6 Porter averaged 14.6 points per game as the Ducks advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight with a 29-8 record.

(SEATTLE) - Seattle Mariners Manager Mike Hargrove announced Sunday that he has decided to resign, effective at the end of today's game vs. the Toronto Blue Jays.
Hargrove was named manager of the club on Oct. 20, 2004.
"Over the past several weeks, I have come to the realization that to be fair to myself and the team, I can not continue to do this job if my passion has begun to fade," Hargrove said.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Alberto Salazar was on the Nike World campus on Saturday afternoon, June 30th, when he collapsed about 12:30 PM.
There were trained medical professionals near him who immediately began treatment. Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue responded from their station blocks away, provided emergency treatment on-site, and Salazar was then transported to Providence St. Vincent Medical Center. Read Full Article

The 2003 champion was involved in two separate incidents requiring him to change his front wing during the early stages of the event, but the cagy veteran and his Forsythe Championship Racing team played the fuel strategy correctly to claim the victory.

(OMAHA, Neb.) - Oregon State became the first team in a decade to repeat as College World Series champion, completing a dominant run through the tournament with a 9-3 victory over North Carolina on Sunday night.
The Beavers (49-18) won all five of their CWS games, including a sweep of the Tar Heels in the best-of-three finals, and trailed for only one of 45 innings they played in Omaha.
Darwin Barney's two-run homer gave the Beavers the lead in the second inning of the decisive game.

(SONOMA, Calif. ) - Juan Pablo Montoya, returning to his “roots” of road-course racing, outfoxed his competition with fuel strategy and outran them when he needed to Sunday to win the Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway.
Montoya dueled Jamie McMurray at the end and passed him going into the second turn seven laps from the finish, then held his breath for his fuel load to hold up the rest of the way.

(CLEVELAND) - Sebastien Bourdais flirted with the track record at the 2.106-mile Burke Lakefront Airport temporary circuit, but came a hair short as he claimed his second pole position of the year.
Bourdais will start the Champ Car Grand Prix of Cleveland Presented by LaSalle Bank from the most coveted position after posting a fastest lap of 56.363 seconds (134.514 mph).
