Spurs Stymie Cavs in Game 1 Victory

Parker led the way for the Spurs with 27 points and seven assists.

(SAN ANTONIO) - San Antonio Spurs Bruce Bowen joined San Antonio's "Big Three" to form an unmatchable quartet in Game 1 of The Finals on Thursday.

Bowen, Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker scored six points apiece in the third quarter as the Spurs outscored the Cavs 24-14 in the period to pull away en route to an 85-76 win at home and a 1-0 series lead.

Three Beavers Day 1 MLB Draftees

All three are juniors and will be playing for No. 25-ranked OSU when the Beavers host Michigan in the NCAA Corvallis Super Regional this Saturday through Monday (June 9-11) at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field.

Winter Hawks Sign First Round Draft Pick

Ross is only eligible to play five games in the Western Hockey League as a 15-year-old until his season with his minor hockey team ends.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - winter hawks logoThe Portland Winter Hawks have signed first round WHL Bantam Draft pick, 15-year-old forward Bradley Ross, to a Western Hockey League contract.

Ross, the fifth overall choice in last month’s draft, met with Hawks’ GM Ken Hodge and Coach Mike Williamson in his hometown of Lethbridge, Alberta.

Bradley’s brother, Nick, is a defenseman for the Eastern Division Regina Pats, who will be coming to play the Hawks in Portland at some point this season.

Nebraska, Chico State Soccer Players Transfer to Oregon

Emily Zaler, Oregon’s reserve goalkeeper, has announced that she intends to transfer to Missouri.

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - oregon soccer photoThe Oregon women’s soccer team finalized its roster for the upcoming fall season with the addition of two transfers and departure of goalkeeper Emily Zaler.

Jessica Goodell, a midfielder/forward, will transfer to Oregon from Nebraska.

Oregon also added Mackenzie Doty from McMinnville, Ore., to the roster. As a freshman last fall, Doty played at Chico State where scored four goals with one assist in 20 games.

Oregon's Rupp Named West Region Athlete of the Year

(SACRAMENTO) - oregon Galen RuppIn the annual U.S. Track and Field Coaches Association awards banquet Tuesday, University of Oregon junior Galen Rupp was tabbed the West Regional Men's Track Athlete of the Year for his record-setting exploits this season.

The Portland, Ore., native ran the fastest time ever by an American-born collegian in the 10,000 meters to win the Cardinal Invitational in late April (27:33.48) and ranks seventh all-time in the U.S. overall.

The Cup triumph capped off a tremendous season for the Ducks.

(ANAHEIM) - Anaheim Ducks logoThe Anaheim Ducks, a team that began its existence in 1993 as an NHL expansion team named after a Disney movie, came of age Wednesday night.

The Ducks, no longer the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, are, ironically, now at their mightiest, winning the 2007 Stanley Cup in five games with a convincing 6-2 victory over the Ottawa Senators.

For Conn Smythe Trophy winner Scott Niedermayer, the championship was his fourth, but perhaps the most special because of his teammates.

The first two games in the best-of-three series will be played Saturday and Sunday (June 9-10) and a third game, if necessary, will be held Monday (June 11).

2007 OSU baseball season-ticket holders will have the first opportunity to purchase All-Session tickets and may do so immediately.

OSU baseball season ticket holders have until Wednesday at 4 p.m. to reserve NCAA Super Regionals seats.

(CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.) - osu baseball playersThe Beavers beat seventh-ranked Virginia 7-3 on Tuesday afternoon to win the NCAA Charlottesville Regional baseball tournament.

Joe Paterson pitched a scoreless final three innings to earn a save to go with his two wins in the tournament for OSU (42-18 overall).

With the win, Oregon State advances to the NCAA Super Regionals for the third straight season.
