Beavers Canham Named to All-Pac-10 Team

Arizona State sophomore first baseman Brett Wallace was named the 2007 Pacific-10 Conference Baseball Player of the Year.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - Mitch Canham photoOregon State catcher Mitch Canham was selected to the first team when the All-Pacific-10 Baseball Team was announced Wednesday.

OSU shortstop Darwin Barney, pitcher Eddie Kunz and first baseman Jordan Lennerton earned honorable mention.

Canham (Lake Stevens, Wash./Lake Stevens HS), a junior, was named to the first team for the first time in his career; he had been an honorable mention selection last season.

Pilots Allan, Kutz, Gruener Earn All-WCC Honors

University of San Diego senior Shane Buschini was named WCC Player of the Year.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - portland pilots baseballPortland Pilots senior designated hitter James Allan was named to the All-West Coast Conference Baseball Team on Wednesday, as voted by the league’s coaches.

Junior pitchers Given Kutz and David Gruener were both named honorable mention.

It’s the first postseason, WCC recognition for all three players.

PSU WR Granted Another Year of Eligibility by the NCAA

Kirkland originally signed with UNLV and spent 2002 as a redshirt with the Rebels.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Tremayne Kirkland photoPortland State wide receiver Tremayne Kirkland has been granted an additional year of eligibility by the NCAA and will be able to play for the Viking football team in 2007.

Kirkland, a 5-11, 165-pound senior from Sacramento, had petitioned the NCAA for the extra year at the conclusion of the 2006 season.

The okay by the NCAA gives Kirkland a sixth year to complete his four years of participation in collegiate athletics.

Jerry Glanville Feature Scheduled For ESPN

ESPN is spotlighting the former NFL Coach in his return to head coaching.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Jerry Glanville photoPortland State Head Football Coach Jerry Glanville will be featured on ESPN's Outside The Lines news show this Sunday morning at 6:30 AM Pacific Time.

The show will be rerun at 9:00 AM on ESPN NEWS as well as 1:30 AM Monday on ESPN2.

An ESPN crew, featuring reporter Colleen Dominguez and producer David Lubbers, spent three days on the Portland State campus in mid-April interviewing Glanville.

The Wildcats, who returned from Virginia in the early hours of Wednesday morning, are being honored for a record-setting season that culminated in Salem, Va., on Tuesday with a 10-2 national championship victory over Washington University-St. Louis.

Cascade Senior Nash Keene Signs with Corban

This past season, Keene was named Capitol Conference co-Player of the Year.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - corban college logoSixth-year head coach Justin Sherwood announced Wednesday that he has added Cascade High School senior Nash Keene (Aumsville, Ore.) to his list of recruits for the upcoming 2007-08 season.

Keene, a 6-foot guard, averaged 16.0 points and 4.4 rebounds per game last season for the Cougars while playing for former Warrior and current Cascade HS boys' varsity basketball coach Steve Ball (1993-95).

"Nash will be a good addition to our team," commented Sherwood.

Green Jumps for NBA Green, Hibbert to Stay at Georgetown

Green, a 6-9, 235 lb. forward from Hyattsville Md., earned All-American status and was named BIG EAST Player of the Year.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - georgetown players nbaAt a press conference today in Georgetown University's McDonough Arena, two Hoya standouts announced their plans for the future.

Jeff Green announced that he will forego his senior season to enter the NBA Draft while Roy Hibbert announced that he will remove his name from the draft and return to Georgetown for his senior season.

Green said, "I haven't hired an agent yet, but we are starting that process now.

Team USA Adds Eight Players to the Roster

Jason Kidd, a 2000 Olympic gold medalist, along with Carlos Boozer, Kevin Durant, Mike Miller, Greg Oden and Deron Williams were added to the USA Senior National Team on Wednesday.

(LAS VEGAS) - Kevin Durant texasUSA Basketball Men’s Senior National Team Managing Director Jerry Colangelo officially announced Wednesday in Las Vegas, Nev., the addition of Carlos Boozer (Utah Jazz); Tyson Chandler (New Orleans Hornets); Kevin Durant (University of Texas); Jason Kidd (New Jersey Nets); Mike Miller (Memphis Grizzlies); Greg Oden (Ohio State University); Tayshaun Prince (Detroit Pistons); and Deron Williams (Utah Jazz) to the Senior National Team roster.

Colangelo also confirmed that seven USA Senior National Team players would be unavailable to compete this summer because of injuries.

NASCAR: COT Will be Used Full Time in '08 Season

The move accelerates the integration of the new car into the series by one full year.

(DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.) - jeff gordon cotNASCAR announced Tuesday that the Car of Tomorrow will be fully implemented for the 2008 Nextel Cup Series season.

The original transition program had the new car running 16 races in 2007; 26 races in '08; and the entire schedule in '09.

The Toyota teams have been the loudest proponents for going strictly to the COT because focusing on one program could alleviate many of the manufacturer's struggles.
