(SALEM, Ore. ) - West Salem had six player players on the Central Valley Conference's first team, and a total nine of their players honored overall in balloting by the CVC's baseball coaches.
Titans coach Micah Tiffin was also named as the conference coach of the year in leading his team to a 17-1 record and the outright league title.
West Salem's Steven Blum was tabbed as the CVC baseball player of the year, and fellow senior Kyle Farrell picked up pitcher of the year honors. Read Full Article

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - Oregon State’s Mitch Canham is one of 10 semifinalists for the 2007 Johnny Bench Award, given to the nation’s top catcher in college baseball.
The Coleman Company-Johnny Bench Award, delivered by AT&T, is selected by a vote of a national committee including sportswriters, sportscasters, NCAA Division I coaches and scouts.
Canham is batting .345 with nine home runs and 52 runs batted in for Oregon State (36-16 overall, 8-13 Pacific-10), which finishes the regular season this weekend at UCLA. Read Full Article

After a convincing Game 1 win over Utah, the Spurs followed it up with a 105-96 Game 2 victory over the Jazz, as they maintained their home-court advantage with a 2-0 series lead.

(SECAUCUS, NJ) - The ping-pong balls bounced the Blazers' way at the 2007 NBA Draft Lottery on Tuesday, as Portland won the top pick in the June 28th NBA Draft in New York.
The Sonics moved up from the fifth spot to second and the Hawks advanced from fourth to third.

(SALEM, Va.) - Linfield College claimed its first NCAA Division III softball championship and first women’s national team title in any sport with a 10-2 victory over Washington-St. Louis Tuesday afternoon at the Moyer Sports Complex.
Meredith Brunette went 4 for 4, including a two-run home run to put the Wildcats in command from the start.

(MONMOUTH, Ore. ) - Western Oregon senior Kevin Corrigan has been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writer’s Division II All-West Region baseball team.
Corrigan was named to the second team as a pitcher.
It is the second all-region selection for the 6-1, 195-pound righthander, who was also named to the first team of the Daktronics all-region team as a utility player.

(SALEM, Va.) - Staving off elimination twice on the same day but in entirely different ways, the Linfield Wildcats moved within one victory of their first NCAA Division III national championship Monday at the Moyer Sports Complex.
Linfield pounded 22 hits during a wild 22-10 victory over Wisconsin-Eau Claire in the day’s semifinal game.

The 12-time Pro Bowler will enter his 18th NFL season and his second season with the Patriots.
Seau, 38, was signed by the Patriots as a free agent on Aug. 18th, 2006 and played in the first 11 games of the 2006 season while making 10 starts.
