(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Comcast SportsNet President Jon Litner and Portland Trail Blazers Executive Vice President, Business Operations Mike Golub announced Monday, the formation of a new 24-hour, seven-day regional sports network, Comcast SportsNet Northwest, to serve sports fans in Oregon and across the Northwest.
Comcast SportsNet Northwest will feature coverage of the Portland Trail Blazers as the flagship programming as well as other compelling sports content.
The network will be owned and operated by Comcast SportsNet and launch in October 2007 in time for the 2007-2008 NBA season. Read Full Article

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - Yasir Rosemond has been elevated to assistant men’s basketball coach, Ducks’ head coach Ernie Kent announced Monday.
Rosemond has been Oregon’s director of operations for the past two years, including the 2006-07 season in which the Ducks went 29-8, won the Pac-10 tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight.
Rosemond, who played for Kent at Oregon from 1997-99, coached for two seasons at Redlands Community College in Oklahoma prior to returning to the State of Oregon. Read Full Article

Salem-News.com Sports (May 21, 2007 15:12)Two Oregon Baseball Players of the Year Sign with Corban Salem-News.com SPORTSSteven Blum, an infielder/outfielder from West Salem High School, is batting .576 with eight home runs, 12 doubles, one triple, and 47 runs batted in. (SALEM, Ore. ) - Corban College second-year head coach Nate Mayben announced Monday, the signing of five players for the 2008 season, including West Salem senior and Central Valley Conference Player of the Year Steven Blum and Lebanon senior and Mid-Willamette Conference Player of the Year Nate Hiebert.
Along with Blum and Hiebert, Mayben also announced the signing of another trio of high school seniors -- Chris Nordstrom, Kyle Taylor, and Coy Bratton.
Blum, who was recently named Central Valley Conference Player of the Year, comes to Corban following an outstanding high school career at nearby West Salem High School.

(SALEM, Va. ) - Linfield juniors Jenny Marshall (Jr., Sherwood, Ore.) and Stephanie Rice (Jr., Milwaukie, Ore.) were named to the 2007 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III All-America Team.
Marshall was voted a first team All-American.
A shortstop, she was named Northwest Conference Player of the Year and a first team all-West Region and all-West Region tournament selection. She leads the Wildcats and the NWC with a .448 batting average. Read Full Article

After eliminating the Phoenix Suns on Friday in the semifinals, the Spurs picked up right where they left off with a 108-100 Game 1 triumph over the Utah Jazz on Sunday.
Tim Duncan racked up 27 points and 10 rebounds for San Antonio, which shot 66 percent from the floor in the first half and led by as many as 19 in the game. Read Full Article

(SALEM, Ore. ) - The NCAA has announced its selections for the 2007 NCAA Division III National Track and Field Championships.
Willamette University will be represented by two members of the men's team and six members of the women's squad, plus both women's relay teams.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Portland came up just short for the third straight game to 25th-ranked Pepperdine as the Waves topped the Pilots 4-2 in the regular season finale for both teams on a wet Sunday at Joe Etzel Field.
The Waves defeated the Pilots 3-0 on Friday and 3-2 on Saturday.
Portland ends the season with a 21-30 overall record and a 7-14 mark in the West Coast Conference. Pepperdine has a 35-20 overall record (14-7 WCC) and is seeking an at-large bid into the NCAA postseason. Read Full Article

(SALEM, Va.) - All-America pitcher Laurel Sagartz and the Washington-St. Louis Bears jumped on the Linfield Wildcats early, weathered a mid-game surge, and held on for a 6-3 victory in the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Finals at the Moyer Sports Complex.
Linfield (42-7) suffered its first loss of the double-elimination national championship tournament, halting a modest six-game winning streak. Washington-St. Louis won its 25th consecutive game to improve to 35-5.
The Wildcats play Wisconsin-Eau Claire in a loser-out matchup that begins Monday at noon EDT. Read Full Article

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - Oregon State managed its first lead of the weekend but seventh-ranked Arizona State came back to beat the 16th-ranked Beavers 8-1 in Pacific-10 baseball Sunday afternoon at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field.
OSU (36-16 overall, 8-13 Pac-10) saw the Sun Devils (41-12, 17-4) clinch at least a tie for the Pac-10 championship that the Beavers had won the past two seasons.
On Sunday, ASU lefthander Brian Flores threw a one-hitter at the Beavers, allowing just a second-inning single up the middle by Braden Wells. Read Full Article
