(ANN ARBOR, Mich. ) - Sophomore first baseman DeAnn Young drove in four runs as No. 15 ranked Oregon State earned a 6-1 victory to eliminate Eastern Michigan University in Saturday’s NCAA Softball Regional Tournament action.
The victory was the 40th of the season for Oregon State (40-22), marking the eighth time in the past nine years that the Beavers have recorded 40 wins or more.
Senior Brianne McGowan gave the Beavers a quick 1-0 lead in the opening inning when her RBI single to center field plated fellow senior Mia Longfellow who had reached base on a walk. Read Full Article

(COLUMBIA, S.C.) - It had been three weeks since Ann Marie Topps hit her record-breaking home run, but the senior torched No. 19, a three-run shot dead to center field in Oregon’s 8-4 victory over South Carolina on Saturday afternoon in the 2007 Regionals at Beckham Field.
With the win, the No. 2 seed Ducks (44-17) will await to find out their opponent for Sunday in the Regional championship game scheduled for 10:00 AM.
Even if Oregon were to drop that game, the Ducks would get a second chance to win the regional bracket with a second game on Sunday.

(ANN ARBOR, Mich.) - Oregon State suffered its largest loss in postseason history as the No. 15 ranked Beavers were downed 8-0 in five innings against University of Louisville in Friday’s first round action of the NCAA Regional Tournament.
Louisville (37-23) took the game’s early lead, capitalizing on three hits to score a pair of runs in the opening inning.
The Cardinals extended their advantage to 5-0 in the top of the second, knocking Beaver starter Brianne McGowan from the circle.

Oregon will play the winner of Friday’s second game, No. 1 seed NC State and No. 4 seed South Carolina, at 10:00 AM on Saturday.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - The Oregon State women’s soccer team has doubled the size of its recruiting class, as head coach Steve Fennah announced Friday the signings of Holly Benson, an all-state high school player from Arizona, and Rachael Axon, a transfer from Alabama-Birmingham who is part of England’s National Team program.
OSU previously signed goalkeeper Katie Bell (Denver, Colo./St. Mary’s HS) and midfielder Courtney Wetzel (Puyallup, Wash./Puyallup HS), both of whom will be freshmen this fall.

(HOUSTON) - Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey announced Friday that the team has decided to part ways with Head Coach Jeff Van Gundy.
The two sides were unable to come to an agreement despite a prolonged negotiating period in which Van Gundy requested and was offered the opportunity to stay within the organization in a senior consultant capacity.

Loop twice sent the ball over the center-field fence in her first two trips to the plate, driving in five runs.
