Oregon State's Cambria Miranda Earns Third Straight All-Region Honors

She is the only player in Oregon State history to score 40 or more runs in back-to-back seasons.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - Cambria MirandaOregon State junior utility player Cambria Miranda earned prestigious first team All-Pacific Region honors for the third consecutive year, making her eligible for All-America accolades.

Miranda, from Camarillo, Calif., is the only softball player in OSU history to be named a first team All-Pacific Region selection three times in her career.

A two-time first team All-Pac-10 honoree, Miranda currently leads the team in eight different statistical categories and is closing in on the school’s single season record for runs scored (47) and RBI (43).

Oregon's Salling Named First Team All-Region

Former South Salem star Sari-Jane Jenkins was named to the all-region second team.

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - Ducks Jenn SallingThe honors will not stop pouring in for freshman shortstop Jenn Salling.

A day after earning first team, all-Pacific-10 Conference honors and being named Newcomer of the Year, Salling was named to the NFCA Division I all-Pacific Region Team.

Salling, also a top 11 finalist for the USA Softball Collegiate player of the Year, is the first Oregon player to receive first team all-region honors since Lindsey Welch in 1997.

Pac-10 Baseball: No.16 Oregon State Home to No. 7 ASU This Weekend

The Beavers enter the series tied for fifth place in the Pac-10 race with California and Southern California.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - pitcher Anton MaxwellOregon State wraps up the home portion of baseball’s regular season this weekend, and the 16th-ranked Beavers (36-13 overall, 8-10 Pac-10) will do it against seventh-ranked Arizona State (37-12, 14-4), the leader in the Pac-10 race.

The Beavers and Sun Devils will meet Friday at 5:00 PM, Saturday at 1:00 PM and Sunday at 1:00 PM at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field.

On Sunday, OSU will honor the five seniors on its roster: Lissman, pitcher Greg Keim, pitcher Anton Maxwell, pitcher Jake McCormick and outfielder Scott Santschi.

Seven Ducks Earn All-Pac-10 Softball Honors

Oregon will begin NCAA Regional play on Friday at 1:00 PM against Penn State in Columbia, South Carolina.

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - Sari Jane JenkinsA record seven members of the Oregon softball were named to the Pacific-10 all-conference team, it was announced today after a vote of the league's eight head coaches.

Freshman shortstop Jenn Salling, a top 11 finalist for USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, was the only Duck named to the first team and was also voted the conference’s Newcomer of the Year.

Sari-Jane Jenkins from Salem was named to the Pac-10 second team.

Hillsboro Hoopster Sarah Eischen Chooses Concordia

Eischen plans to study business/pre-law at Concordia.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Sarah_Eischen Prep basketball standout Sarah Eischen of Hillsboro, Ore., has decided to continue her education and compete for the Cavaliers, Concordia University women’s basketball coach Aaron Christian announced today.

Eischen helped guide Hillsboro High School to a 20-3 overall record in 2006-07, leading the Spartans with 12.8 points per game while shooting a team-best percentage of .461 from the floor.

A reliable inside presence, Eischen also led her squad with 10.6 rebounds per game.

Concordia Signs Glencoe Hoops Star Madison Steinmetz

Steinmetz senior season was highlighted by NWCO League (first-team) and 5A All-State (third-team) recognitions.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Madison_Steinmetz_photoConcordia University women’s basketball coach Aaron Christian announced today the signing of Glencoe High School’s Madison Steinmetz (Hillsboro, Ore.).

A 5-foot-9 forward, Steinmetz averaged 14.9 points, 5.1 assists and 5.9 rebounds per game as a senior to cap off her four-year career as a varsity starter for the Crimson Tide.

Steinmetz led the team in scoring in both her junior and senior seasons and was named Metro League honorable mention after her junior campaign.

INDY 500: John Andretti Joins Panther Racing

Andretti is looking to make his eighth career start in the Indianapolis 500.

(INDIANAPOLIS) - panther_racing_photoTwo-time IndyCar Series Champion Panther Racing announced today it will enter a car in the 91st Running of the Indianapolis 500 for John Andretti, who will be making his return to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway after 12-year hiatus from IndyCar racing.

Andretti, who last competed in the ‘500’ in 1994, will have his No. 33 entry sponsored by Camping World and RVs.com.

He will join new teammates Vitor Meira and Kosuke Matsuura on the historic 2.5-mile oval for practice this week.

NBA Playoffs: Spurs Rally to Defeat Short Handed Suns, 88-85

Shawn Marion finished with 24 points and 17 rebounds for the Suns.

(PHOENIX) - San_Antonio_Spurs In a game that evolved from a potential blowout to an intense nail-biter, it was Bruce Bowen who supplied the final fireworks.

Bowen's 3-pointer with 36.4 seconds left in the fourth quarter Wednesday gave his team its first lead since midway through the first quarter and propelled San Antonio to an 88-85 win in Phoenix and a 3-2 series advantage.

In a game with plenty of pregame hype after the suspensions of Amaré Stoudemire, Boris Diaw and Robert Horry, the Suns started hot and seemed poised for an easy victory.

NBA Playoffs: Nets Stay Alive with Game 5 Win over Cavs

LeBron James scored 20 points to go along with nine rebounds for the Cavs.

(CLEVELAND) - new_jersey_netsWith their backs to the wall in Game 5, the Nets staved off elimination behind a big game from Jason Kidd.

Kidd tallied 20 points, nine rebounds and six assists as New Jersey rolled past Cleveland, 83-72, on Wednesday, coming within one game of tying the best-of-seven series, currently at 3-2.

The Cavaliers held the Nets to six points in the fourth quarter, but were unable to overcome an 18-point deficit to start the period.
