(TEMPE, Ariz.) - The No. 13 ranked Oregon State softball team suffered a heart-breaking 8-7 11-inning loss to No. 7 Arizona State on Sunday when Sun Devil third baseman Bianca Cruz hit a 2-out RBI single to left field.
The 3-hour and 27-minute game saw the teams combine for 23 hits on the afternoon and score a combined 13 runs over first five innings of play.
Arizona State (42-11; 8-4 Pac-10) took a 3-0 first inning lead, amassing four hits and knocking Beaver starter Brianne McGowan from the circle.

Galvan hit a 2-out line drive blast over the right center field fence to give the Beavers (34-14; 6-4 Pac-10) a 1-0 advantage in the top of the second.

(TACOMA, Wash.) - Willamette University won its sixth consecutive Northwest Conference women's track and field championship on Saturday, while the Bearcat men's team finished in second place, on the final day of the 2007 NWC Track and Field Championships.
Willamette was led by Andrea May who was selected Athlete of the Meet.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - The Oregon State offense generated four touchdowns in the second scrimmage of the spring practice session on a wet Saturday at Reser Stadium.
Junior running back Patrick Fuller posted several of the highlights of the day and finished with 95 yards on 13 carries. He had runs of 36 and 24 yards and capped a Lyle Moevao drive with a two-yard touchdown run.
Sophomore Tony Carrasco added 35 yards on the ground on 16 carries with a score.

(EUGENE) - Oregon States’ Holly Thomson, a graduate of Eugene’s Sheldon High, returned to her hometown Saturday and won her section of the women’s 1,500 meters in the Oregon Invitational track and field meet at Hayward Field.
Thomson’s time of 4 minutes, 34.21 seconds, moved her up to sixth place from 10th on OSU’s all-time top 10 list in the event; the time was also a personal record by over 20 seconds for Thomson. Read Full Article

(MOTEGI, Japan) - A succession of drivers inherited the point late in the Indy Japan 300 because of fuel stops.
Tony Kanaan, who relinquished the lead to Sam Hornish Jr. only nine laps from the checkers, was confident of being the final leader.
Kanaan was right, of course, and edged Target Chip Ganassi Racing's Dan Wheldon by 0.4828 of a second to give Andretti Green Racing its initial victory of the season and first on a 1.5-mile oval since the 2005 IndyCar Series season. Read Full Article
