Salem-News.com Sports (April 15, 2007 08:02)Pac-10 Baseball: No. 9 Oregon State Shut Out by California Salem-News.com SPORTS(CORVALLIS) - Oregon State brought the tying runs to the plate in two of the final three innings but the ninth-ranked Beavers lost to California 4-0 in Pac-10 baseball Saturday afternoon at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field.
OSU (27-8 overall, 3-5 Pac-10) saw its three-game winning streak end and lost at home for just the second time in 12 games this season.
On Saturday, Cal righthander Alex Rollin and relievers Craig Benningson and Matt Gorgen combined to hand the Beavers their first shutout in five years to even the series at one game apiece; OSU had won the opening game 1-0 on Friday night.

(CORVALLIS) - The No. 16 ranked Oregon State softball team broke the school single season record for stolen bases, but dropped a 3-1 decision to No. 12 University of Washington on Saturday.
The Beavers (32-13; 4-3 Pac-10) tallied three stolen bases on the afternoon to give the team 73 swipes on the year – breaking the school record of 70, set in 2005.
Despite getting runners in scoring position, OSU left seven players stranded on base in the game.

(EUGENE) - The Oregon defense has benefited in the early going this spring by not having to grasp a new system and the results were evident Saturday in the first extensive scrimmage of spring practice.

(EUGENE) - Oregon senior Ann Marie Topps hit her single-season record-breaking 17th home run of the year, but it couldn’t prevent 14th-ranked UCLA from recording a 13-3 win over No. 10 Oregon on Saturday afternoon at Howe Field.
The Ducks, now on a two-game losing streak, fall to 37-7 on the year and 3-4 in the Pac-10 Conference. The Bruins, improve to 3-4 in the Pac-10 and 27-11 overall.
It was the combination of UCLA’s 15 hits on the day as well Anjelica Selden’s performance in the circle.

(MONMOUTH) - Western Oregon’s Kevin Corrigan and Mike Eisenhauer combined to hold Saint Martin’s bats to just six hits on the day as the Wolves swept the Saints in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader on Saturday, 4-1 and 3-1.
The wins improved conference-leading Western Oregon’s record to 8-2 in the GNAC and 18-15 overall. Saint Martin’s fell to 12-22 on the year and to 4-6 in GNAC play.

(McMINNVILLE) - Two sterling pitching performances keyed Linfield’s doubleheader sweep of Willamette on Satruday at Roy Helser Field.
The 9-0 and 6-3 victories improved the Wildcats to 11-6 in Northwest Conference play and moved the team to third in the standings.
Linfield is 16-13 overall and will play Willamette in the third game of the weekend series on Sunday at noon.

George Fox dropped to 5-23 overall and 3-17 in the NWC, while Linfield improved to 26-4 overall and 17-1 in the league.

(MONMOUTH) - Western Oregon rallied for a 6-5 victory in game one and then steamrolled Seattle University 8-1 in game two to lengthen their Great Northwest Athletic Conference lead to three games on Saturday afternoon at the WOU Softball Field.
The doubleheader sweep improved WOU’s GNAC record to 9-1, and they are 20-17 overall.
Seattle dropped to 6-4 in league play and to 21-17 on the year.

Portland’s lone run came in the top of the seventh, courtesy of a pinch-hit RBI by James Allan.
