(HONOLULU) - The No. 14 ranked Oregon State softball team pounded nine hits, but dropped a 4-2 decision to host University of Hawaii in the championship game of the Hawaiian Airlines Spring Fling Tournament on Saturday night.
The Beavers (15-9) strung together three straight two-out singles in the bottom of the first inning, but were unable to cross the plate and left five runners stranded through the first three innings of action.
A third inning lead-off walk proved costly for OSU as Hawaii took a 1-0 lead when Stacey Yamada scored after a single up-the-middle from Kaulana Gould.

(EUGENE) - The University of Oregon is inviting all basketball fans to join Duck players and coaches for a Selection Sunday celebration this Sunday at McArthur Court.
Admission is free and the first 1,000 fans will receive free soda and popcorn.
The Oregon marketing department will be giving away 2006-07 basketball posters and will conduct promotional contests throughout the afternoon.
The Ducks last appeared in the NCAA Tournament in 2003, when Luke Ridnour and Luke Jackson led Oregon to the Pac-10 tournament championship and an automatic bid.
The CBS NCAA Tournament Selection Show begins at 3:00 PM.

Salem-News.com Sports (March 10, 2007 19:32)Bearcats Sweep Doubleheader from Menlo, 3-0 and 4-3 Salem-News.com SPORTS(SALEM) - Senior first baseman Grant Yamaguchi hit a bases-loaded sacrifice fly with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning to drive in Kelly Gilmore with the winning run, as Willamette defeated Menlo College, 4-3, in the second game of a double-header sweep on Saturday at John Lewis Field.
The Bearcats won the first game 3-0, as Jimmy Meuel and Jarrid Summers combined on a seven-hit shutout.
Willamette swept the three-game series from the Oaks, including a 6-4 win on Friday.

(LAS VEGAS) - Jeff Burton passed Kyle Busch on the final lap to win Saturday's Sam's Town 300 NASCAR Busch Series race at Las Vegas Motorspeedway.
The race, slowed by a record 12 caution flags, came down to the final lap when Burton caught Busch and passed him on the outside in Turn 4.
Busch's car wiggled slightly as Burton made his pass and he spun as Burton crossed the finish line.

(CORVALLIS) - Mike Lissman doubled home Darwin Barney from first base with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as eighth-ranked Oregon State beat Evansville 3-2 in non-conference baseball Saturday afternoon at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field.
Daniel Turpen pitched seven innings and allowed two earned runs for OSU (17-3 overall), which completed a sweep of the Purple Aces (9-7) and won its sixth straight game.
On Saturday in front of a crowd of 1,984, OSU came from behind for the second straight day to edge past Evansville, the defending Missouri Valley regular season and tournament champion.

(LOS ANGELES) - Bryce Taylor scored a career-high 32 points, making every shot he took, and No. 16 Oregon routed Southern California 81-57 Saturday to win the Pac-10 tournament title.
The Ducks (26-7) head into the NCAA tournament on a six-game winning streak. They haven't been there since 2003, also the last time they won the conference tourney.
Taylor went 11-for-11 from the field, 7-for-7 from 3-point range and 3-for-3 from the line - before being removed with 6 1/2 minutes left and the Ducks ahead by 40 points.

(SALEM) - Freshman Josh Warner drove in the Warriors' lone run on an RBI double in the 8th inning, but Corban's baseball team allowed four runs in the third inning and fell, 4-1, to the Thunderbirds of British Columbia on Saturday.
Corban senior starting pitcher Brett Timmerman began the game getting the first to T-birds via strikeouts, but got roughed up a little in the third inning.
Neither team got on the scoreboard until the third inning when the visiting Thunderbirds put their lone four runs on the board via five straight hits

(PORTLAND) - Junior Given Kutz pitched seven solid innings and freshman Rocky Gale drove in a pair of runs as the Portland Pilots defeated the UC Riverside Highlanders 5-2 on Saturday at the Riverside Sports Complex.
It’s the fifth straight win for Portland, which improves to 9-4 on the season.
Kutz (2-2), who picked up a complete-game win last Saturday at UC Davis, scattered eight hits and allowed just two runs. He struck out four.

(ELLENSBURG, Wash. ) - Western Oregon saw one streak come to an end and watched a lead go away late in the second game in dropping a 6-0 contest to Central Washington and a 4-3 verdict to Saint Martin's on Saturday at the GNAC Invitational at Tomlinson field.
The Wolves fell to 4-8 on the season in the non-conference games.
Central Washington juniors Tyler Levin and Travis Bertholf combined on a five-hit shutout as the host Wildcats defeated Western Oregon, 6-0, in the opening game of the day.
