NASCAR: Kahne Breaks Track Record, Takes Las Vegas Pole

It was no surprise the track record would fall.

(LAS VEGAS) - Qualifying for Las Vegas Motor Speedway's UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400 is reminiscent of a famous quote by baseball great Yogi Berra: "It was deja-vu all over again."

After the banking in the superspeedway's turns was increased from 12 degrees to 20, the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series cars were running at least 10 mph faster than Kahne's record during NASCAR Preseason Thunder Las Vegas testing in January.

David Stremme qualified second at 29.317 sec. (184.193 mph).

McKay to Bring Hardware Home to Salem

Scots beat Westview, advance to 4th place game.

(EUGENE) - Salem-News.com SportsOn paper, it didn't look promising for McKay in their Friday consolation game with Westview of Beaverton.

While the Scots feature nobody taller than 6'5 on their roster, the Wildcats start 6-11 Andy Poling and 6-9 Trevor Seifken down in the blocks.

Fortunately, the Scots had an answer to the Westview goliaths -- scrappy team rebounding and the slingshot shooting of Greg Plater.

Plater had 23 points, including 11 in the third quarter, as McKay beat Westview 60-51 at Mac Court in Eugene Friday.
