Western Oregon Announces 2007 Football Schedule

Wolves to jet to three games, host five contests

(MONMOUTH, Ore.) - The 2007 Western Oregon football team will visit the states of Utah, Texas, California and Washington this year, while also hosting five familiar rivals at McArthur Field in a 10-game slate.

The Wolves, under third-year leader Arne Ferguson, will open the season against neighbors Willamette (Sept. 1st) and Linfield (Sept. 8th).

They will also have home games against Central Washington (Oct. 13th), Southern Oregon (Oct. 20th) and Humboldt State (Nov. 10th).

PSU`s Kahle, Faucher Earn Big Sky Honors

PSU will carry a 12-17 overall record into Thursday’s game with Weber State.

(PORTLAND) - Portland State sophomore forward Kelsey Kahle was named first team All-Big Sky Conference and freshman guard Claire Faucher was named the Big Sky’s Outstanding Freshman as the conference announced its postseason awards on Monday.

In addition, Kahle was named the Big Sky’s Co-Player of the Week on Monday.

Kahle tied a Big Sky single-game record with a 41-point outburst in an 80-72 win over Sacramento State on Jan. 25th.

No. 8 Oregon State Edges No. 15 Texas A&M

The Beavers home opener is Thursday.

(College Station, Texas) - The No. 8 Oregon State baseball team used a 12-hit attack to defeat the No. 15 Texas A&M Aggies 6-5 in the final game of the four-day Domino’s Pizza Aggies Baseball Classic at Olsen Field.

The game was shortened to eight innings in a pre-arranged agreement with both teams due to the Beavers’ travel schedule.

The win by OSU (14-3) snapped the Aggies’ (15-2) 14-game winning streak.

Nine Ducks Accepted for NCAA Indoor Track and Field Champs

The two-day meet will feature 284 athletes in each of the men’s and women’s competitions.

(EUGENE) - The University of Oregon track and field teams received word Monday evening that six NCAA provisional qualifying entries were invited to the upcoming NCAA Indoor Championships, scheduled for Friday-Saturday, March 9th-10th at the University of Arkansas.

The Ducks already had three other NCAA automatic qualifiers – senior Tommy Skipper (pole vault) and sophomores Rebekah Noble (800m) and Galen Rupp (5,000m) – that were already guaranteed positions in the NCAA field based on their season bests.

Voting closes on Friday.

(EUGENE) - The Oregon Ducks have been nominated twice for the 2007 Pontiac Pac-10 Game Changing Performance.

The Ducks were nominated once for their victory over #1 UCLA on 1/06/07 and once for their victory over Washington State on 2/22/07.

Fans may vote for their favorite "Game Changing Performance" on the Pac-10's website (pac-10.org).

Oregon`s Brooks, Leunen, Porter Honored by Pac-10

Oregon faces Arizona in a Pac-10 tournament quarterfinal game on Thursday.

(EUGENE) - Three Ducks, Aaron Brooks, Maarty Leunen and Tajaun Porter, were recognized by the league’s coaches on Monday.

Brooks, the Pac-10’s leading scorer, was named to the all-Pac-10 first team, Leunen was an all-Pac-10 honorable mention selection and Porter was a Pac-10 all-freshman pick.

Brooks was also named one of 22 finalists for the Wooden Award and was a first team all-district selection by the USBWA and the NABC

NFL: Chargers Resign WR Camarillo, OT Lekkerkerker

(SAN DIEGO) - Chargers exclusive rights free agent wide receiver Greg Camarillo and offensive tackle Cory Lekkerkerker have both signed the one-year contract tenders they received from the team.

Camarillo is entering his third year with the team. An undrafted free agent out of Stanford in 2005, he spent his rookie season on the practice squad and his second in 2006 on the active roster.

Camarillo played in four games last season exclusively on special teams.

NFL: Texans, WR Johnson Agree to Extension

Johnson was voted the team MVP by his teammates in 2004 and 2006.

(HOUSTON) - The Houston Texans have agreed to a contract extension with WR Andre Johnson.

Johnson (6-3, 222) has started 61 games since being the Texans’ first-round draft selection in 2003 (third overall).

Johnson has led the team in receptions and receiving yards in the last four consecutive seasons and has established nine franchise records.
