Whitman Defeats Willamette 5-0 in Men`s Tennis

(Walla Walla, Wash.) - The nationally-ranked Whitman men`s tennis team ran its Northwest Conference record to 5-0 with a 9-0 shutout of Willamette Saturday afternoon on the Whitman campus outdoor courts.

Willamette, opened its season on Friday with a 7-2 win at Whitworth College.

Oregon`s Downfall Continues, Ripped by Stanford, 88-69

Oregon (20-7, 8-7 Pac-10) has lost six of eight games overall and will try to recover with three home games to end the season.

(STANFORD, Calif.) - Brook Lopez scored a career-high 26 points and keyed a big second-half run that helped Stanford beat No. 15 Oregon for the 21st consecutive time at Maples Pavilion, 88-69 Saturday night.

Saints Race Past Wolves, 94-75

Western Oregon dropped its sixth consecutive game to fall to 3-20 on the season and to 2-10 in league play.

(LACEY, Wash.) - Saint Martin’s controlled the backboards and raced to a season-high 94 points in claiming a 94-75 women’s basketball win over Western Oregon on Saturday night at the SMU Pavilion.

The victory gives the Saints back-to-back wins for the first time this season, and also gives them revenge over WOU, who won the first match-up between the two teams last month.

Oregon State Bangs Out 12-4 Win Over Arizona State

(SURPRISE, Ariz.) - Oregon State’s Jason Ogata and Lonnie Lechelt drove in three runs apiece as the 15th-ranked Beavers beat 14th-ranked Arizona State 12-4 in the Coca-Cola Classic baseball tournament Saturday afternoon at Surprise Stadium.

Joe Paterson and Eddie Kunz combined to pitch a five-hitter for the Beavers (8-1 overall) in a matchup of the teams picked to finish atop the Pac-10.

Cal Defeats Oregon State in OT, 84-80

The Bears came out hot in overtime.

(BERKELEY, Calif.) - Freshman forward Patrick Christopher scored 24 points to lead California to an 84-80 overtime victory against Oregon State on Saturday afternoon at Haas Pavilion.

The game almost ended in a 71-68 Cal victory as the buzzer sounded.

Cal Poly Wins Shootout With Vikings, 92-87

(San Luis Obispo, Calif.) - The Cal Poly Mustangs won a three-point shootout with the Portland State Vikings in a non-conference game at Mott Gymnasium, 92-87.

Ultimately, Cal Poly won the game by hitting 8-10 free throws in the final 33 seconds.

However, the Mustangs rode a career-best effort from Derek Stockalper, which included 37 points and nine three-point field goals.

No. 7 Oregon State Tops Wright State, Cal State Northridge

The Beavers used a 5-run second inning to pull away from Northridge (2-5-1) in the final game of the day.

(LAS VEGAS) - Four different Oregon State players hit home runs on the day, including a grand slam from junior Cambria Miranda, as the No. 7 ranked Beaver softball team won a pair of games at the UNLV Louisville Slugger Desert Classic on Saturday.

OSU recorded a 9-2 victory over Wright State and then topped Cal State Northridge by a 6-1 score.

Bruins go to 3-0 as Offense Lights up Leopards

(ANTHEM, Ariz.) - Continuing to show a good mix of offensive firepower, steady pitching and sure-handed defense, the George Fox University Bruins ran their record to 3-0 with a 12-3 win over the University of La Verne Leopards on the third day of the 2007 Arizona Desert Classic Saturday here at the Boulder Creek High School junior varsity field.

For the second straight day, the Bruins put a dozen runs on the board, banging out 13 hits and using an eight-run 2nd inning to quickly seize control.

Willamette Starts NWC Play With 8-1 Victory Over Whitworth

(SALEM) - Willamette University swept the double positions and won five of six single matches, including two decided by 10-point tie-breakers after splitting the first two sets, as the Bearcats downed Whitworth College, 8-1, in a Northwest Conference women's tennis match Saturday at the Courthouse Tennis Club.

Willamette improved to 1-1 on the season and to 1-0 in the NWC. Whitworth opened its season at 0-1, 0-1 in the NWC.
