Ducks Stumble Against No. 9 Stanford, 74-56

Oregon was led by Eleanor Haring, who had 19 points.

(EUGENE) - Jayne Appel had 18 points and 11 rebounds, Candice Wiggins scored 17 points and Stanford (No. 10 ESPN/USA Today; No. 9 AP) beat Oregon 74-56 Saturday.

Wiggins played but didn't start for only the second time in her career last Thursday against Oregon State due to a sprained right ankle.

The junior guard showed no ill-effects of that injury against the Ducks (15-11, 7-9 Pac-10), going 7-for-13 from the field with three 3-pointers and eight rebounds.

Beavers Topple No. 7 UCLA

(CORVALLIS) - Freshman Mandi Rodriguez “stuck” the landing on her first tumbling pass on the floor exercise energizing the crowd and the Beavers rode the momentum provided by the home crowd of 3,086 to a victory over No. 7 UCLA Friday night.

The 16th-ranked Beavers were led by Jami Lanz, who used three 9.900’s (bars, beam and floor) to score a career-high 39.550 in the all-around to win the individual title.

Oregon Blasts Seton Hall, 14-0

Oregon took only five innings to win its first game of the day vs. UC Davis, 8-0.

(LAS VEGAS) - The Oregon women’s softball team continued its timely hitting and clutch pitching to breeze past Seton Hall, 14-0, in the second game of the Louisville Slugger Desert Classic Friday at SLC Park.

For the second game in a row the Ducks needed only five innings to secure the win due to the eight-run rule to improve their record to 6-1 with their sixth-consecutive victory.

Boxers Nip Wildcats, 54-50

Linfield saw its record fall to 3-11 in the NWC, 8-16 overall.

(FOREST GROVE) - Salem-News.com SportsRoss Bartlett’s bucket from close range with 15.4 seconds remaining sealed a 54-50 Northwest Conference victory for the Pacific Boxers over the Linfield Wildcats Friday night at the Pacific Athletic Center.

Donny Harrison-Davis scored a game-high 15 points for Pacific, which improved its conference record to 7-8 and 11-13 overall.

Kevin Mills went 3 for 5 and scored a run as the Wildcats pounded out 13 hits on six Leopard pitchers.

Bower Powers Pirates Past Willamette, 74-57

With the loss, Willamette falls to 4-20 overall, 2-13 in the NWC.

(SPOKANE, Wash.) - Alida Bower scored 25 points and hauled down 11 rebounds, helping Whitworth College pull away from Willamette University for a 74-57 victory over the Bearcats, on Friday at the Whitworth Fieldhouse.

Whitworth improved to 14-11 overall and evened its Northwest Conference record at 8-8.

Second Half Run Propels Whitworth Past Willamette, 81-66

With the loss Willamette drops to 10-14 overall, 6-9 in the NWC.

(SPOKANE, Wash. ) - Whitworth College, ranked 16th in this week’s NCAA Division III National Poll compiled by D3hoops.com, shot 66.7% in the second half (18 of 27) to expand a slim 34-33 halftime lead and claim an 81-66 victory over Willamette University, Friday at the Whitworth Fieldhouse.

The Pirates, now 22-3 overall and 13-3 in the Northwest Conference, clinched at least a tie for the NWC title.

Willamette placed four players in double figures, led by Ian Mansfield with 13 points.
