Willamette, Lewis & Clark Meet This Weekend

Last year, Willamette went 2-1 against the Pioneers.

(SALEM) - Willamette Bearcats logoThe Bearcats baseball team will return to action on Saturday, with a double-header against Lewis & Clark College at Tigard High School in Tigard.

The first game of the double-header is scheduled to start at 11:00 AM.

Willamette and L&C will play one more game on Sunday, also at Tigard High School, starting at noon.

Willamette Men Host George Fox; Travel to Linfield

WU is 0-5 on the road in NWC play.

(SALEM) - Willamette Bearcats logoWillamette plays its final home game of the season on Friday, when the ‘Cats host George Fox University at 8:00 PM.

The next night, Willamette travels to Linfield for another NWC game. Tip-off at Linfield is also 8:00 PM.

GFU defeated WU earlier this season in Newberg, 72-52, while the Bearcats got by Linfield 80-68 on Jan. 13th at Cone Field House.

Ducks Open 2007 Season Friday in the Desert

(TEMPE, Ariz ) - The University of Oregon softball team opens its 2007 season on Friday at the Kajikawa Classic hosted by fellow Pac-10 conference school Arizona State.

The Ducks are slated to play five games over the three-day tournament, starting with Florida at 1:00 PM (MST).

Friday’s other game involving Oregon will pit the Ducks against Long Beach State at 3:30 PM.

Oregon Signs Seven in Women's Soccer

Soccer Buzz tapped Kirstie Kuhns, a midfielder from Pleasanton, Calif., as one of the top 75 players in the nation.

(EUGENE) - Oregon women’s soccer coach Tara Erickson looked north to her hometown of Puyallup, Wash., and south to one of California’s most dominant club teams to sign the Ducks’ seven-member 2007 recruiting class.

Among the class, announced by Erickson Thursday, were three top-200 national players according to Soccer Buzz, two from Erickson’s former club team the FC Royals and three from California juggernaut West Coast FC.

OSU Men's Soccer Signs 10 Players

(CORVALLIS) - Oregon State men’s soccer coach Dana Taylor announced his recruiting class Thursday for the 2007 season, and his 10-player list includes a strong group of standout student-athletes.

There are three each from Oregon (one via the Congo) and Arizona, two from Idaho, one from Nevada and one from Virginia.

A promising start gave way to a difficult finish as the Oregon State men’s soccer team ended the 2006 season with an overall record of 5-12-2 and a sixth-place finish in the Pac-10 Conference at 0-9-1.

No.15 Oregon State Heads to Georgia This Weekend

The Bulldogs, who went 47-23 last season, will be playing their season-opener.

(CORVALLIS) - Oregon State resumes its baseball schedule this weekend with a rematch from last season’s College World Series. The 15th-ranked Beavers (4-0 overall) visit Georgia (0-0) for a three-game series with games Friday at 2:00 PM PST, Saturday at 11:00 AM PST and Sunday at 10:00 AM PST.

OSU and Georgia met up in the second round of bracket play at the 2006 CWS, with the Beavers taking a 5-3 win.

That was the first of six victories in elimination games for OSU in Omaha en route to the national championship.

Oregon Track & Field Has Busy Weekend on Tap

(EUGENE) - With the halfway point of the indoor track and field season at hand, the University of Oregon track and field teams face arguably their busiest weekend of the slate this weekend at a pair of highly-regarded invitationals.

A tentative travel party of 47 men’s and women’s athletes from the sprints, distances, jumps and throws areas will compete Sat.,in the Husky Classic, held in the Dempsey Indoor Center in Seattle, Wash.

Another group of 10 men’s and women’s athletes from the jumps, sprints and middle distance area will compete Fri.-Sat., in the Tyson Invitational.

OSU in Second Place After Day One of Hawaii-Hilo Invitational

All five of OSU’s golfer competed strongly, and four shot in red figures on the par-70 course.

(HILO, Hawaii) - The Oregon State men’s golf team is off to a scorching start to the spring season by firing a ten-under 270 on Wednesday.

The outstanding shooting leaves OSU in second place behind number one ranked Stanford on day one of the Hawaii-Hilo Invitational at Waikoloa Village Golf Club.

Sophomore Alex Williams led the Beavers with a team low of 4-under 66 that puts him in a seven way tie for third place and two shots off the lead.

University of Oregon Inks 29 Future Ducks

(EUGENE) - University of Oregon head football coach Mike Bellotti unveiled a recruiting class of 29 future Ducks Wednesday that represented a tone of a return to basics despite being accompanied by the fanfare that many view to be one of the best recruiting classes in school history.

Bellotti shared his thoughts regarding the 27 high school seniors and two junior college transfers in front of news media in the Casanova Center that appeared to focus on an emphasis of, toughness, size and speed, as well as a commitment to improve the program and rebound from last year’s 7-5 season.

Among the group highlighted by the signing of six defensive linemen, five defensive backs, five linebackers.
